Elizabeth Debicki, known for her role as Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown, is poised to clinch another award at Sunday night’s Bafta TV awards.
Despite initial fears, the Australian actress has soared to fame with her portrayal of the late Princess of Wales.
However it wasn’t all plain sailing, with Elizabeth, 33, revealing she was left with ‘extreme terror’ at the idea of taking on the iconic role.
She told The Sun: ‘It was really the strangest job of my life to date, without a doubt.
‘It all happened within a swamp of terror as well, like a swamp of extreme terror that was linked to a sense of responsibility.’

Elizabeth who has already won a Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice award for her role, is gearing up for new projects this summer, including a romantic thriller and a sci-fi drama, following her horror debut in MaXXXine.
The 6ft 3in actress admitted that she needed ‘to do something different’ after such responsibility.
She said that after being offered the role of playing an Eighties film director with huge shoulder pads, she could not turn it down.
She added: ‘It was sort of like a balm to me as an actor, like a tonic, to go into something completely different. I just had a ball.’
Elizabeth took over from Emma Corrin in the hit Netflix show, playing Diana for the fifth and sixth series, which included Diana’s death in 1997.
The actress said of her casting: ‘Princess Diana’s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many.
‘It is my privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.’
Elizabeth also appeared in Christopher Nolan’s movie Tenet, after famously landing her breakthrough role as Jordan Baker in Baz Luhrmann’s movie, The Great Gatsby.

She also won acclaim in the 2016 BBC drama The Night Manager, starring opposite Tom Hiddleston in the adaptation of John le Carré’s novel.
Despite her rising stardom, Elizabeth is tight-lipped about her personal life, only recently stepping out with partner Kristian Rasmussen.
Little is known about her mystery man Kristian Rasmussen, whom she was first spotted holding hands with in London in November 2022.
Elizabeth’s rarely-seen boyfriend – who bears a curious resemblance to The Crown’s former Prince Phillip, Matt Smith – allegedly sneaks into award shows to cheer her on from the crowd.
In an effort to avoid cameras and reporters, he flies under the radar as his glamorous girlfriend poses on the red carpet and takes to the stage to accept her awards.
This year will see David Tenant host the BAFTA Television Awards.
He is no stranger to the ceremony, having previously presented an award at the show in May 2023, but this year will be his hosting debut.
