EastEnders fans have praised the soap for tackling racially-aggravated murder in what has been hailed as the ‘best episode ever.’

During recent episodes, viewers have seen George Knight, played by Colin Salmon, discover the truth about his family in a series of shocking revelations.

After a visit from his adoptive mother, Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell), he comes to learn the truth about his heritage and finds out his adoption was part of a child farming process in which his birth parents paid Gloria and Eddie to take care of him.

In another twist, George discover’s Eddie’s (Christopher Fairbank) recent niceties have all been part of a ploy to persuade him to provide a character witness when Eddie’s pal Gerald lets slip that the ‘jury will love him.’

After pressing Gerald for answers, he learns that his adoptive father is in fact facing trial for a racially motivated murder that had taken place years ago.
