Eminem is set to release his first studio album in four years, according to his long-time friend and collaborator Dr Dre, who delighted fans with the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The rapper, 51, whose real name is Marshal Mathers, launched his 11th studio album, Music To Be Murdered By, in 2020 but appears to have a new project on the horizon.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday, Dr Dre, 59, real name Andre Young, hinted that a new Eminem release could be out at some point in 2024.
He said: ‘Let me explain something to you right now.
‘Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year and I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show.’

The audience could then be heard erupting into cheers and applauding at the unexpected news.
Dre added: ‘I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually going to hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow.
‘He holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard complete [that he has produced on the album] but I’m going to hear and he’s putting out an album this year’.
Dre, who initially found fame as part of gangster rap group N.W.A, has encountered further success as a producer through his record label Aftermath Entertainment and as the founder of Beats Electronics.
Appearing on the show with fellow rappers Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, this was Dre’s first late-night television appearance in over 30 years.
Dre and Eminem previously collaborated together on the 1999 track Guilty Conscience, which was released as the third and final single from the latter’s The Slim Shady LP.
The release of a possible new LP from Eminem comes after it was revealed that he is set to co-produce a new documentary about the phenomenon of his fanatical fans through his company Shady Films.
The production is said to be moving forward under the working title Stans, in reference to the 15-time Grammy Award-winner’s 2000 hit song, which tells the story of an obsessive and delusional fan named Stanley ‘Stan’ Mitchell (voiced by Eminem).
In a statement, the rapper’s long-time manager Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr of Shady Films summed the upcoming Stans documentary as an ‘opportunity for us to to turn the camera around and ask the audience about being fans — and in some cases, fanatics.’
They went on to reveal how the film will be ‘a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.’
