Doja Cat hit back at online trolls who have been making disparaging remarks about her natural hair. 

The 28-year-old rapper confronted her critics in an Instagram Live session on Saturday after she the shared a close-up image featuring her curly hair for her upcoming single, MASC. 

The Grammy winner — who previously defended shaving her eyebrows— said she observed comments likening her natural 4C hair pattern — marked by tight curls and coils — to ‘sheep and pubes and carpet and popcorn and s*** like that.’ 

‘We got to move forward. Let’s move forward. Let’s grow,’ Doja said, adding, ‘I can’t tell you what to do. I’m not your f****** parents.’ 

The clap back comes a few weeks after the singer announced she deactivated her Instagram over how she’s been ‘treated’ on the social media platform.

‘I’m gonna deactivate because I’m not really feeling this anymore, you guys take care of yourselves,’ she wrote in a since-deleted post, according to XXL magazine

‘I like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but I just feel like this is getting to be too much.’

‘Please watch how you talk to and about people on the internet. Bye,’ she added.

This isn’t the first time Doja Cat has encountered criticism regarding her appearance.

In 2022, the Woman singer faced online trolls after shaving her head and eyebrows.

Despite the negativity, she joyfully embraced her new look, expressing to fans that she ‘never felt so f****** happy’. 

However, a few days later, she asserted that those who criticized her hairstyle were solely focused on her sexual attractiveness.

‘I won a Grammy and travelled the f****** globe, I’ve had a #1 and I went platinum. I make hit after hit after hit and you all want me to look f****** for you … go f*** yourselves,’ the singer wrote on Twitter.

Doja Cat elaborated during an Instagram Live session a the time, sharing that she opted to shave her head because she had never enjoyed having hair. 

She said often found wigs frustrating, particularly during physical activities, which led to her decision. 

‘I don’t like having hair. I never liked having hair. I cannot tell you one time, since the beginning of my life, that I’ve ever been like: “This is cool,”‘ she told her followers. 

‘I just do not like to have hair.’

She continued: ‘I just can’t believe that it took me this long to be like, ‘Shave your f****** head.’

At the 2022 Grammys, Doja Cat and SZA took home the gong for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their collaborative hit Kiss Me More.
