Doctor Who viewers were left ‘sobbing’ after Wilf Noble’s fate was revealed on Saturday after actor Bernard Cribbins died last year aged 93.

After the absent character was believed to have died it was revealed he was in fact happy and being cared for by Kate Stewart (Gemma Redgrave).

As an emotional Doctor (David Tennant) seemingly accepted Wilf’s fate saying ‘he wasn’t young’ Donna (Catherine Tate) exclaimed: ‘He’s not dead!’.

‘He’s living in sheltered accommodation!’.

The emotional ending then saw Donna and The Doctor going to visit Wilf for ‘one last time’.
