Speaking to ELLE, Demi explained how starring in the film reinforced her love of skincare to keep looking strong and healthy, as she declared 'ageing is a gift'.
'Filming The Substance was a very intense, visceral experience that really highlighted the dangers of self-judgment,' she explained.
'The most beautiful thing we can do is care for ourselves with kindness. I’ve viewed wellness and skin care as an act of gratitude, but this experience helped underscore that. I want to use products that work with my skin to help it stay resilient and healthy.'
Sharing the 'life-changing' secret behind her youthful and taut appearance, the Ghost star said: 'I’ve become very intentional about my evening routine.
'Taking the time to truly transition from the chaos of the day into a state of rest has been life-changing, and part of that is doing my skin care. It’s the small, daily acts of self-care that lead to the most enduring results.'
While she said that she connected with the new Lancôme collection because of the emphasis on longevity and self-care.

Opening up about becoming an ambassador for the brand, she called it perfect timing and said that felt like a true partnership because Lancôme listened to her ideas and opinions.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar, she said: 'I really feel like this partnership came at the right time, because it came at a time in my life where I was not expecting it.
'I feel beautiful, and I feel like not only am I working with what I have, I'm celebrating it, I'm embracing it, I'm taking care of it - and that comes with experience, and that comes also with knowledge, right? With education.'
The Avatar star said her passion for skincare came when she entered her 40s, and that her routine was essential for maintaining her firm and flawless skin.
While Hollywood has become a hotbed for all sorts of cosmetic tweakments from Botox to face lifts, Zoe expressed her preference for natural beauty, and admitted she doesn't even wear makeup except for mascara.
'I really love it when women work with what they have', she said. 'There’s something really beautiful and alluring about a woman who truly sees herself in the mirror, likes it, and just complements it, complements her appearance, but doesn't try to change it or transform it dramatically.
'I consider natural beauties like Sienna Miller, Whoopi Goldberg—an absolute natural beauty. Less is always more for women like them.'

While the Oscar winner said growing up in the Dominican Republic showed her that there was more than just the one type of beauty than the one represented in Hollywood.
'I learned a much more abundant definition of beauty, that it came in all shapes, and skin colors, and hair textures, and body shapes,' she told PEOPLE.
However, after heading to Los Angeles, Zoe became keenly aware that she didn't fit into the stereotypical ideals and admitted it was 'frustrating' to be passed over because she was a Black Latina woman.
'I didn't see me in those spaces. I always noticed that imbalance', she said. 'And very early on, I knew it wasn't because of me. It was because of other people's problems and perception.
'So, therefore, every time someone would come to me and say, "We're going to go traditional," I knew what that meant. And what was frustrating was the fact that those were still very powerful entities that controlled the narrative.'
However, the Guardians of the Galaxy star said she viewed it as 'more of a power dynamic and was less about discrimination - and I never accepted it for myself. I wasn't a victim of it. I was never going to participate in it.
'For me, it was just, "This is the game of chess, and you're cheating. Because if you play fair, you have a 50% chance or more that I'm going to win".'
Vania heaped praise on Zoe in a statement announcing her as the new face of Lancôme, saying: '[She] brings a grounded authority and a rare intellectual depth that resonate deeply with today's women, who seek substance over surface.
