Demi Lovato has come under fire for wasting $19 on the viral Erewhon strawberry from Kyoto, Japan.
The 32-year-old music artist — who recently responded to a concerned fan — took to TikTok to share her honest review of the pricey piece of fruit.
Dressed in a dainty cream-colored cardigan with her dark hair parted and pulled back, the Texas native, worth an estimated $40million, cradled the small food item in her manicured hands.
‘Apparently, you’re supposed to smell it,’ she narrated before taking a whiff and confirming, ‘Smells like a strawberry.’
The songstress took a big bite before rating it an 8 out of 10. ‘It’s not tart at all, which I like; I don’t like tart strawberries. But it’s not that sweet,’ she reported before shrugging, ‘Oh, well! Just wasted $20.’
One follower named Mya wrote in the comments, ‘This level of capitalism is actually sick,’ racking up more than 145,000 likes.

That comment garnered even more attention, gaining over 320,000 likes and nearly 800 replies.
Another joked about the expensive, LA-based grocer, ‘Erewhon was 100% started by a group of uni students who wanted to run a social experiment on consumerism but ended up accidentally creating a successful grocery so now they just watch.’
Also mentioning the food retailer — known for smoothie collaborations with A-listers like Kourtney Kardashian and Hailey Bieber — someone else added, ‘Just hearing “Erewhon” pisses me off.’
‘”I wasted $20″ — this is the most honest review yet, to be honest,’ a viewer noted, crediting Lovato for her transparency.
Another agreed that the star’s admission was ‘the only appropriate response.’
