Deborra-Lee Heartbroken Over Hughs Met Gala Date

's ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness has reportedly been left 'devastated' after his girlfriend accompanied him to the Met Gala in New York earlier this month.

Deborra-Lee, , is said to be distraught at seeing him attend the high-profile event with Sutton - a night she and Hugh once shared together on multiple occasions.

'Deb had been warned Hugh would be appearing with Sutton but it still felt like a knife to the heart seeing them there,' an insider told New Idea magazine.

'This was her and Hugh's "big night out" for the year and they were there side-by-side, just like Sutton is today, just four years ago.' 

The source added that Hugh, 57, and Deborra-Lee, 70, had reached a post-split agreement to attend the Met Gala on alternate years to avoid awkward encounters - and she never imagined he would . 

'They were regulars at the Met Gala, it was one of her favourite nights out. In fact, when they split they agreed to "split custody" of the Met Gala, go on alternate years, but that was before anyone knew about Sutton,' they said.

They said that Deborra-Lee had avoided attending the Met Gala altogether following her split - and was shocked to see just how quickly Hugh appeared to be moving on.

'Last year when it looked like Hugh wanted to take Sutton, Deb indicated she might be going but simply couldn't face it,' they said.

'There were just too many painful memories. Part of her hoped he might have gone solo again, so it adds an extra layer of hurt that Hugh's so willing to pave over their historic nights out with new memories.

'Deb is doing well moving on... seeing Sutton smiling on the arm of Hugh hurt.' 

It comes after The Wolverine star was slammed for attending this year's Met Gala with his new girlfriend.

His shock move was seen as a brutal final blow to Deborra-Lee when they arrived at The Metropolitan Museum of Art last Monday night holding hands tenderly.

Social media users were quick to slam Hugh's move as 'disrespectful' and 'classless'.
