has revealed that a very risqué story he told on a podcast 'ruined' his son Rafferty's life.

The funnyman, 55, was on the Carrie and Tommy Show on Thursday, where host quickly reminded Dave of an X-rated story about losing his virginity that he told on The Imperfects podcast in December last year.

Dave was then played a clip from the podcast in which he revealed that he had previously been scared to have sex.

'I lost my virginity in a brothel at the age of 22, but I was so scared before that, that I was going to be a loser in life, that whenever I got the opportunity to have sex I would bottle it because I thought: "I'm not worthy",' Dave said on the podcast.

'This guy said to me: "We're going to a brothel," and I said: "Mate, it's impossible. I can't get it done in a weekend with a girl, how am I going to get it done in half an hour?"'

Tommy then asked Dave if he consulted with his wife Holly and their three children, Rafferty, 17, Sadie, 15, and Tess, 13, before spilling such personal details.

'I'm confident with my wife who is very honest and is happy for me to be honest, so I've got no issue there,' he said.

However, it was a different story with his children, particularly his 17-year-old son Rafferty.

Admitting that he was surprised by how many people listened to the podcast and praised him in the street for his display of vulnerability, Dave added that his son was less than impressed.

He said that the podcast was 'clipped up' and shared to social media, where Rafferty discovered Dave's admission.

'My son, who turned 17 today, he started texting me because his mates were sending him screenshots of it,' he said.

'He said: "Dad, you've ruined my life".'

Dave added that he caused more embarrassment for his son when picking him and his friends up from the movies.

'I remember picking him up from a cinema and he's got five mates there who are just yelling: "22, 22," mocking me,' he said.

The funnyman, 55, was on the Carrie and Tommy Show on Thursday, where host Tommy Little quickly reminded Dave of a story about losing his virginity in a brothel at age 22 he told on The Imperfects podcast in December last year

While the story may have ruined Rafferty's life, Dave added that it only served to improve his standing among his son's friends.

'My son also said that my rizz had increased with his mates,' he said.

'I'm actually happy about that, because men have many insecurities. I think for me to be able to talk about that hopefully takes the pressure off men who are nervous in life.'

It comes after Dave revealed he was heckled on stage for making jokes about his son.

He took to Instagram in January to share a bizarre exchange with a disgruntled audience member during a stand-up set in Noosa.

He shared a short clip that showed him addressing a female audience member who was standing in the aisle.

While little context was given in the clip, the woman appeared agitated and was seen turning to face the crowd, apparently for validation.

Expanding on the incident in the clip's caption, Dave said that the woman attempted to 'censor' his act – something which had never happened in his three-decade career.

Tommy then asked Dave if he consulted with his wife Holly (left) and their three children Rafferty, 17, Sadie, 15, and Tess, 13, before spilling such personal details and he admitted  that while there was 'no problem' with Holly, it was a different story for his children
