Danielle Spencer Sets Rumors Straight About Russell Crowe

Danielle Spencer has dispelled a longstanding rumour about the breakdown of her marriage to . 

The pair married in 2003, split in 2012, and finalised their divorce in 2018. 

At the time, rumours abounded that Crowe's career had come between the couple, but singer Danielle, 56, now says that was simply not true. 

'There's been this narrative that Russell's escalating career and him being away contributed to the break-up of our marriage, but that's not true for me,' she told The Sydney Morning Herald. 

'I don't need to be with my partner 24 hours a day to feel safe or secure.'

Danielle praised the 62-year-old Hollywood star as a wonderful father to their two sons, whom they co-parent. 

'Russell's most admirable trait is loyalty. He's also a deep thinker. I am an actor as well, so I totally understood him being away on film sets,' she said. 

'When our kids – Charlie, now 22, and Tennyson, 19 – were little, I'd travel with him.'

She added that when the couple did have to be apart, 'We'd visit Russell, or he'd call me a hundred times a day.'  

Meanwhile, Danielle put in an edgy appearance at the APRA Music Awards in Sydney on Wednesday, showing off her trim figure in a lace two-piece ensemble. 

She turned heads in the black outfit, which included flared trousers, and added a pair of sunglasses and layered gold chains.  

It comes after Danielle recently . 

The actress and musician opened up about her high-profile split from the star after 15 years on the Stellar podcast Something To Talk About. 

'It's really sad breaking up with somebody that you've known for so long, that you've had children with,' she confessed to podcast host Sarrah Le Marquand.

'Me kind of breaking up the family – and it felt very much like I was driving that – so I had to deal with my almost sense of guilt that I was fracturing the family, but obviously I did it for a number of reasons and I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think it needed to happen.'
