Cybill Shepherd Turns 76 with Lunch Celebration

Hollywood legend Cybill Shepherd is celebrating another trip around the sun.

The star marked her 76th birthday in Los Angeles on Wednesday alongside her devoted assistant. 

Shepherd, clad in a floral print jacket and jeans with her hair slicked up into a bun, was seen leaving a restaurant with a hand rested on her assistant's shoulder. 

Shepherd's employee appeared to have his own hands full with a striped tote that may have belonged to his boss.   

Memphis-born Shepherd became a household name after starring on the popular series Moonlighting opposite Bruce Willis, with the pair playing respective characters Maddie Hayes and David Addison in the dramatic comedy.

But her career includes a number of other iconic roles, including that of Robert De Niro's love interest in the drama Taxi Driver - which recently marked it's 50th anniversary.

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film was nominated for numerous Oscar awards - including the coveted Best Picture award - following it's February 8, 1976 release. 

While Shepherd didn't receive any Academy Award nominations, her own acting in would not go unnoticed by critics in later years.   

Shepherd earned widespread praise for her performance on the show Moonlighting, which aired on ABC from 1985 to 1989.

She starred alongside Bruce Willis as Maddie opposite his David Addison in the comedic drama.

Shepherd won two Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Comedy or Musical in 1986 and 1987, and was nominated again in 1988.

In addition, she received an Emmy nomination in 1988 for her work on the series.

While their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, the pair also shared a famously rocky off-screen relationship.

'I remember at one point in the show, it had gotten to where we just hated each other,' Shepherd admitted to EW in 2005 about her and Bruce’s tumultuous working relationship.

Later, from 1995 to 1997, Shepherd garnered three more Emmy nods for her role on the CBS sitcom Cybill, which also earned her a Golden Globe win in 1996 and a nomination the following year.

The legendary actress's most recent role came as author Nancy Crampton-Brophy in the 2023 TV movie How to Murder Your Husband, written and directed by Stephen Tolkin.

Shepherd's co-stars in the production included Steve Guttenberg, Sandy Minh Abley and Primo Allon.

She has been making appearances on stage as of late.
