Chris and Elsa met in early 2010 and went on to tie the knot by the end of the year, with their wedding taking place during Christmas time.
The pair were introduced to each other by Chris’ talent agent William Ward and sparks were instantly flying between them.
They debuted their relationship to the world at the opening gala for the Resnick Pavillion at the Los Angeles County Museum Of Art in September 2010, making their romance red carpet official.
In a 2015 interview with Elle, Chris said: ‘There was no light bulb moment. From the first time we met, we just made sense.
‘She’s fun. She’s outgoing, and she has a sense of humour and a passionate attitude toward life, which is nice to try to keep up with.’
They didn’t waste any time and said ‘I do’ less than 12 months after meeting, while enjoying a holiday on the island of Sumba in Indonesia.
Chris later opened up about their wedding being a spur-of-the moment decision, rather than something that was planned out.
During a 2016 appearance on Good Morning Britain, he revealed: ‘It did happen quick and it just felt right, it made sense.

‘There was no great plan to any of it, to be honest. We were on holiday, and we said, ‘Why don’t we get married too?’ And then the next minute…There probably should have been some planning, but it all worked out.
‘Honestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said, this is a good opportunity with everyone together. So we just did it.’
Two years later, Elsa announced that she and Chris were pregnant with their first child India Rose Hemsworth, now 11, who was born on May 11 in 2012.
One year after India’s arrival, the Spanish model and actress was pregnant again – this time with twins Sasha and Tristan, who were welcomed to the world in March 2014.
As a family of five, the couple made the huge decision in 2015 to pack up their lives and move from Los Angeles to Australia, where Chris is originally from.
At the time, The Thor star told the Daily Telegraph the move to his home country was ‘the best decision’ they made.
A small town boy at heart – he was raised on Phillip Island in Victoria – he says he felt a slower pace away from the lights of Hollywood was better for his young family.
‘It’s the first time in years I’ve felt like I have a home again,’ he revealed, adding: ”For 10 years, I’ve had no base and led a pretty nomadic existence. Since we moved back, I feel much more grounded, and I like that.’

In an interview with GQ Australia in 2017, Chris opened up about his relationship with Elsa and the challenges they’ve faced.
He explained: ‘My wife and I fell in love, had kids, didn’t really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love.’
Adding: ‘Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that. You’ve got nothing for each other.
‘So make sure you have date night even if it’s once in a blue moon, because most of the time you’re just too tired and you’d actually prefer to sleep.’
Chris and Elsa’s off-screen relationship moved on-screen when the actress joined her husband in the Marvel Thor movies, which he stars in as the title character.
