The former reality star, 35, who shares Beau with her ex partner Danny Flasher, took to Instagram on Thursday night to share the awful news with her followers.

She explained that he was injured at New Year before being rushed to hospital for surgery where doctors tried and failed to reattach the finger.

Chloe told how the trauma of what happened left her feeling 'broken' and said she was now petitioning the government to make it compulsory for children to wear protective gloves while ice skating.

She penned in her lengthy post: 'I didn't know whether to share this with the world or not, as he's my baby & as a parent you're always protective over your child. I'm sharing to help others and raise awareness.

'After receiving the dreaded phone call NYE 2pm that no parent ever wants to receive, I was told Beau had been in a terrible accident. He fell over ice skating & someone ran over his finger with their bladed skates, which took his finger off.

'I'm not even sure how I got into the car and drove the 45 minutes to him, if I'm honest - it was all a complete blur.

'When I arrived, he was wrapped up in a silver medical blanket. His little face melted my heart, and I did my best to hold back the tears so I didn't upset him. He kept telling me, 'It's fine mum, you don't need to cry, I'm OK. My finger's going to be OK.'

'We were blue-lighted to The Royal London, where they checked him over and did X-rays. He finally went down for surgery at around 8pm. Watching your child be put to sleep is probably the worst thing I've ever experienced - it's incredibly distressing, and I honestly wouldn't wish it on anyone.

'After 3.5 hours in surgery, I was called down so I could be there when he woke up. The plastic surgeon told me everything went well. We then went back up to the ward, where I watched him sleep. This video was taken from the window on New Year's Eve. It's made me reflect on how precious life is, and how everything can change in a matter of seconds.

'It's now been 8 weeks since it happened. The part of the finger they reattached sadly didn't take… which means if it didn't fall away naturally then he'll have to have another small operation to remove it. Its completely broke me & still to this day I can't believe it's happened.

'As I'll never be able to bring his finger back, I'd love all your support in helping me change the Law to stop this happening to other children. I've started a Petition with the government 'to make it compulsory for children to wear protective gloves while ice skating'.

'With 100,000 signatures this petition will be considered for a debate in parliament. I'd be grateful for all your help. I hope one day I can tell Beau I changed the law because of him.'

In an Instagram Q&A at the time, Chloe revealed the pair had quietly separated after a 'rubbish' and 'complicated' few years.

Asked by fans if she was a 'single mama', she responded: 'Yes I am. It's been a complicated couple of years.

'I'm quite private about my personal life, find it hard to deal with it all anyway let alone having everyone's opinion. But try my best to show what I can.'

As another fan asked how she deals with 'feelings of not being where you want to be', Chloe responded: 'Well... if I'm totally honest I thought id be married with 3 kids at 32

'Life doesn't always go to plan (which I have found really hard) but I think everyone has their own journey. You have to just live yours & not put too much pressure on yourself.

'Don't compare yourself to others. I've had a real rubbish 2 years and now, I'm a single mum but I have Beau at that's my focus & my priority.

'I always think just do what you want to do and what makes you happy & everything should fall into place. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

'I have life chats with my dad & a man's point of view on things always helps me too. Having someone to off load to is always important.'

Yet Chloe didn't rule out finding love and expanding her family again, as when asked if she wants more children, she revealed: 'I always wanted a big family.

'Becoming a mum was harder than I expected, but I do love it there's no feeling like it. So never say never!'

Speaking about the tragic loss, Chloe told OK! magazine: 'The doctor did confirm the twins had been identical. That was so sad for me to hear. I kept thinking this one is going to come out and they would have looked exactly the same.'

Chloe added that she found her mixed emotions hard to cope with, admitting: 'I grieved for about three months. I felt like I had gone into a hole, like I had lost a child. I felt like I had done something wrong because it was my body.

'Was I going to the gym too much? You start questioning yourself,' she explained. It wasn't until Danny said, 'Chloe, you've got to snap out of this, you've got one healthy baby, not everyone gets this.''

'I was supposed to be happy but I was sad because I'd lost one. I was happy some days and sad others.

'I couldn't be totally happy. After three months, though, I said to myself, 'Right, you've got to sort yourself out.'''
