Cheyenne Floyd was distraught when she learned the person who allegedly shot at her and her family two years ago was insisting on going to trial on Wednesday’s episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter on MTV.

‘It is a miracle that we are still here,’ Cheyenne, 30, said. ‘We are still dealing with this nightmare. I would rather do a plea deal. As long as he’s doing more than 20 years, I’ll take that.’

The shooting occurred two years ago when Cheyenne and her husband Zach, 32, were driving their children in Los Angeles when a man fired 13 shots at their vehicle. Zach said they knew the assailant.

When Zach told Cheyenne that the lawyers just informed him that the case was going to move forward to trial because the plea deal was turned down, Cheyenne started crying.

‘Why keep dragging this on?’ Cheyenne said. ‘You know you did it just sit there and rot in f***ing hell.’

The episode titled Hurt People, Hurt People opened with Cheyenne talking about continuing to suffer the effects of being a shooting victim. Cheyenne said she was extremely nervous and didn’t think she could mentally handle going to trial.

Ashley Siren’s comments on social media saying ‘tell the people how you tried to cover up the new body with an accident’ were triggering and were making things worse for her.

‘Here’s the thing, hurt people do hurt people,’ said Cheyenne’s father Kyle, lending the episode its title.

Kyle encouraged Cheyenne to try to find a way to make up with Ashley, 26.

Meanwhile, Ashley told her sister Rosie that their mother was really struggling.

‘We’ve all got to support mom,’ Ashley said.

Later, Ashley’s mother Tea came for a visit. Ashley and Tea sat down for lunch. Tea told her she was happy that Rosie was staying with Ashley and giving her the time to figure out her grief because things were rocky for her right now. Ashley said it was stressful without having Bariki ‘Bar’ Smith around.

While Ashley was at lunch, Cheyenne called and said she wanted them to have a conversation.

‘I really, to be honest, I really don’t have anything to say to you,’ Ashley said. ‘I don’t appreciate how you treated me, and that’s really as far as I’m willing to take the conversation. I appreciate you calling but I think this is a door that I would like to remain closed.’

‘Okay, I respect that,’ Cheyenne said.

Ashley told her mother that Cheyenne reached out to her, but the time for that phone call was before she disinvited her to her wedding.

‘That time was before you got on your podcast and said well just because she’s Black doesn’t mean I have to like her,’ Ashley said. ‘That time was before you got on camera and said, I’d never do a show with her again. That time was before you said I was toxic. That time was before, bogus a** phone call, girl bye.’

Back at her house, Cheyenne told Zach about how she called Ashley after her father encouraged her to clear the air, but that Ashley told her that the door on their friendship was shut.

Jade Cline, 26, traveled to Arizona to visit her father Corey at his rehab facility after spending time with her mother Christy at her rehab in Texas.

‘I’ve not been clean for 30 years until now, literally 30 freaking years,’ Corey said. ‘Now that I’ve not got anything in me, I’m kind of interested to see what I can do off of them.’

Jade said she visited her mother Christy at her rehab and that she wanted her to stay longer. Jade said she worried her mother wasn’t taking it seriously. Corey said that if Christy went back to using he would see if she wants help.

‘I’m not dealing with s*** no more,’ Corey said. ‘I haven’t wanted to deal with s*** for the last few years, but I didn’t want her to die either, and that was what I was afraid of. I figured that was what was going to happen or I’d die with her.’

‘I’m proud of you dad,’ Jade said. ‘Because I want you to be here.’

‘So do I now,’ Corey said. ‘I never wanted to kill myself but I didn’t give a f*** if I died or not. I could have cared less.’

Jade called Christy’s counselor and said she had concerns over her mother’s recovery. She didn’t think her mother was taking it seriously.

‘I just want my family to be okay,’ Jade said crying in her car. ‘I can’t live with myself if I feel I haven’t been able to save both of them.’

Maci Bookout, 32, was at her house in Tennessee and while waiting for her ex-Ryan Edwards court date to be set, she decided to attend her first Al-Anon meeting. Ryan had been in jail for a few weeks and Maci told Taylor, her husband, that she was going to attend her first meeting virtually.

‘I’m not an addict, haven’t been an addict but dealing with one it feels so like you never know what to do,’ Maci said.

Later, Ryan’s mother Jen and his father Larry discussed how Maci was going to attend the meeting. Jen said she found the meetings helpful so she could handle her emotions better.

After attending a meeting themselves, Jen and Larry said they both found the meeting helpful especially hearing from the other participants talking about wanting to fix everything.

‘That’s my problem,’ Jen said.

‘Ryan’s got an illness, and I mean, I can’t change it, so I try not to dwell,’ Larry said.

‘You can’t push it down too deep,’ Jen said.

Larry said they can’t do it by themselves. Maci said she learned in her meeting that it wasn’t her responsibility to fix the wrongs done by Ryan.

‘Al-Anon it’s a game changer,’ Maci said.

Catelynn Baltierra, 31, was at her house in Michigan with her husband Tyler, 31. Tyler had a video check-in with Dr. Mike Dow after his ketamine treatment. Tyler said he had been learning to enjoy the little moments.

‘I was really struck with how far you have come,’ Dr. Mike said. ‘And when you grew up in that trailer, and all these things happened to you and you were in so much pain, I think that little boy would be very, very proud to see everything that you’ve achieved, this family that you’ve built.’

Dr. Mike told him to write a letter to his younger self and to tell him that everything was okay.

The next day, Tyler worked on his letter and planned to go to the trailer where he used to live and read the letter. Tyler’s mother Kim stopped by to help with the kids. Tyler gave the letter to his mother Kim to read with him telling his younger self that it wasn’t his fault that his innocence was violently robbed from him. Kim started to cry.

‘It’s so hard for me to read this,’ Kim said crying.

‘I was eight when the sexual abuse happened,’ Tyler said. ‘I told a lot of people, and then I remember you coming up to me and you smacked me. You said knock it off, and stop saying that s*** or something like that.’

‘I thought you were making up a story,’ Kim said.

Kim said if she could change things that she would have been devastated for him. Kim got up and hugged him and said she wished she would have known.

‘It’s not okay,’ Kim said. ‘ I just wish I could go back in time and take all that away from you.’

‘You can’t protect your kids 24/7,’ Tyler said.

Tyler and Catelynn went to the trailer where he grew up. He sat at a picnic bench outside and read the letter to his younger self. He told himself that he would meet this woman, Catelynn, and that they would fall madly in love.

‘That love will result in the other reason you survived and that’s to be a father, to bring four beautiful children into the world and to give these children a father you never had,’ Tyler said.

Tyler then burned his letter.

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter will return next week on MTV.
