Christine Ahern left viewers completely shocked when she revealed her AFL-themed tattoo plans live on air on Thursday.

The Channel Nine star joined AFL fans in Melbourne ahead of the face-off between the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans on Saturday at the MCG.

Christine spoke to one fan called Gemma who took her dedication to the sport to a whole new level by getting a Swans 2024 inking across her arm.

But Christine then shocked her colleagues Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo by revealing she too planned to get an AFL inking.

During the live broadcast, the footy supporter showed off a Lions stencil she had printed on her wrist as she prepared to get tattooed.

‘Hahn has done such a fantastic job that I have decided to get a Brisbane Lions tattoo, there I have the little stencil,’ she teased.

Her revelation sent her co-host Sarah, 38, into a tailspin as she started to beg Christine not to get the ink, whileย Alex Cullen looked equally horrified in the studio.

Only Karl, 50, appeared on-board with Christine’s shocking idea as he fist-bumped the air and shouted: ‘Yes Chris!’ while laughing.ย

The Today Melbourne reporter was shown live on air lying down ready to get her inking as the tattoo artist got to work setting up the area.ย

‘We will see you a little bit later with my Brisbane Lions tattoo, I was going to get it on my neck,’ she shared before the camera cut.

Despite her cheeky antics, it did not appear that Christine actually got the tattoo as photographs shared to her Instagram page only showed the purple stencil.

She also shared a snap of the tattoo gun seemingly at work on her arm, however it did not appear to have any needle or ink installed.

The hotly-anticipated AFL Grand Final showdown is set to kick off on Saturday, with thousands of fans descending on Melbourne ahead of the big game.

Katy Perry has been lined up to headline the pre-match entertainment, while Cody Simpson will sing the national anthem.ย

And on Wednesday, Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that Tina Arena will also be showcasing her vocal talents at the sporting spectacular.

Organisers are hoping she will create another memorable TV moment after Delta Goodrum performed with Robbie Williams in an iconic show at last year’s final.ย

It is not known whether Tina –ย who sings in English, Italian, French and Spanish – will be taking to the stage for the pre-game, halftime or post-match entertainment.ย

Tina, known for her hit Burn and cover of Don’t Cry for Me Argentina, has been signed up after plans reportedly fell through to have Kylie Minogue perform.

Katy remained coy about Tina’s involvement during an interview onย The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick, cheekily saying:ย ‘You’ll just have to wait and see.’

However, she then teased: ‘All I know is that it’s a fellow Scorpioโ€ฆ and she’s great.’
