The British star, 42, who won the 2022 Olivier Award for the role in London – for The Theory of Everything – transformed into The Emcee for a chilling performance of Willkommen at the awards after taking the production to Broadway.Ăč

However, the star’s extremely quirky rendition – which saw him belting out showtunes with a hunched back, making bizarre gestures and gazing wild-eyed at the camera in extreme close-ups – saw him likened to a ‘sleep paralysis demon’ with fans quipping that his Oscar should be revoked.

The actor is currently reprising his award-winning performance as Emcee in the production – directed by Rebecca Frecknall – as part of its transfer from London to NYC.
