She got her start as a child actor with a high profile role, but now she’s days away from turning 22.
This dark-haired beauty was first introduced to the world as a child star appearing on the hit series Desperate Housewives.
She was a featured player for seasons five through seven, before joining the series as a main cast member for its eighth and final season.
But she also has a major entertainment industry connection, as she’s the younger half-sister to a huge pop star.
Can you guess who this rising star is?
Madi has appeared on several television series, and more recently she has been attending the screenwriting program at Chapman University
She is Madison De La Garza.
Best known for playing Juanita Solis, the daughter of star Eva Longoria, on Desperate Housewives, while her half-sister is newly engaged popstar Demi Lovato.
It was a small, uncredited part for the child star, but she followed it up with a single-episode guest spot on another of her sister’s projects, the Disney show Sonny With A Chance.
Madi was perfect for the role, as she was playing a younger version of her half-sister’s character Sonny.
After proving she had what it took, she scored her most high-profile role to date on ABC’s popular series Desperate Housewives.
She played Juanita Solis, who was played by a different actor in season four before she took over through the end of the series.
Juanita was the daughter of Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), but her mischief making made her a natural source of comic relief on the primetime soap.
Since then, Madi has had a recurring role on the single-season CBS series Bad Teacher, and she also guest starred on the ABC series American Koko.
Most recently, she appeared in the short film Obviously from earlier this year.
She also made an appearance in the four-episode docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil, which focused on her older sister’s career and her struggles with substance abuse.

She was only six when she was cast on Desperate Housewives as a replacement for Juanita, the daughter of Eva Longoria’s character Gabrielle
Madi, who was born in Dallas, Texas, graduated from high school in 2019 and subsequently enrolled in the screenwriting program at Chapman University, and much of her school corresponds with a slower acting pace.
So far, she hasn’t clarified if she plans to continue acting, or if she’s looking to focus on writing instead. Her Instagram bio now lists her as a director and screenwriter, suggesting her ambitions are now behind the camera as part of the creative team.
However, she has previously delved into the devastating effects her early brush with fame had on her.
During an appearance on the Heart Of The Matter podcast in April of this year, Madi revealed that she had developed an eating disorder when she was seven, just a year after she was cast on Desperate Housewives.
She recounted being cyber bullied and reading mean comments about her weight as a child.
‘The reactions that I got to my character on Desperate Housewives, it was just shocking,’ she said. ‘A lot of people came at it in a way that they were “concerned for my health.” And I personally believe that that’s just not true, that that was a cover-up so that they could just judge a six-year-old.’
Garza’s parents didn’t allow her to get online unsupervised, but she still got on the computer when they weren’t looking, which is when she saw the most hateful comments.
She recalled falling into a rabbit hole and spend ‘hours and hours’ reading negativity about her body from complete strangers.
‘I would just spend a crazy amount of time reading through these comments, and most all of them were just atrocious. They said things like they wanted me to die because of what I looked like. It was just horrible,’ she recalled. ‘And this was when I was seven, eight years old.’
She added: ‘Reading comments like that definitely affected my mental health and ultimately played into me developing an eating disorder at a very young age.’
She didn’t think her treatment was a surprise to her on-screen mother, Eva Longoria, as her whole presence amounted to a visual joke of sorts.
‘The whole joke of my character was that Eva was this thin, beautiful model and her daughter turned out to be quite the opposite,’ she explained. ‘And so, I think she was very aware that this was going to affect me.’
But although the two never ‘explicitly talked’ about body image issues and cyberbullying, Garza recalled that Longoria ‘definitely went out of her way to make me feel like I was pretty and like I was special, and she made me feel like I was family.’

Since then, she has gotten sober like her big sister, and she is now focused on writing and directing after making several short films. She’ll celebrate her 22nd birthday on December 28
‘And if I ever did want to go to her with these things, I absolutely could have,’ she said.
Like her sister Demi, Madi revealed earlier this year that she was now sober after finding she was relying too much on substances, which she described as her ‘best friend’ to E! News.
She said it was an inspiration to see her sister Demi get sober after they came so close to death from an overdose.
Madi’s next big milestone will be celebrating her 22nd birthday on December 28.
