Nicola Coughlan has been hailed as an ‘icon’ as she shared a video of herself ‘anxiously’ singing on the way to the Bridgerton world premiere.

The Bridgerton star, 37, has been capturing people’s hearts during the season three press tour of the Netflix Regency drama, and has once again won over her fans.

She took to Instagram on Wednesday to give an insight into her trip to New York to promote the smash hit series and attend the show’s world premiere.

Nicola, who plays season three lead Penelope Featherington, didn’t shy away from candidly revealing that she was racked with nerves ahead of the big premiere.

In the relatable selfie footage, Nicola showed off her glamorous look as she travelled to the premiere for her big night and sang along to Beyonce’s hit track Heated.

Nicola was seen looking concerned and worried as she took some short breaths and rapidly sang along to Beyonce’s song, documenting her pre-premiere nerves.

Alongside the video, she penned:¬†‘Thank you Beyonce for being the only thing to keep me calm on the way to the world premiere.’¬†

Nicola’s character Penelope – also secretly known as Lady Whistledown – has taken centre stage in the third series of Bridgerton in a hotly-anticipated storyline.

It follows Penelope’s best friends to lovers journey with Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) as they finally explore their romantic connection after a years-long wait.

The first half of the series dropped on Netflix last week, and ended on a cliffhanger proposal from Colin after a steamy carriage scene which cemented their romance.

But fans will have to wait until the second half is released on June 13 to find out Penelope’s answer and what happens next in their fan favourite relationship.

After the first few episodes proved to be a slow burn, fans are waiting for things to really ramp up after Nicola promised season three would be the raciest yet. 

Bridgerton’s third series has continued to be a huge success as it pulled in a massive 45.1million viewers¬†within just four days of going global on Netflix.

It reportedly scored 165.20 million viewing hours across the four days, equating to 45.10 million views.
