'So we have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it's not because we haven't had anything to say, because Lord knows we have.'
Although Baldoni said he was not going to address all aspects of the legal battle in his statement, he hinted that there would be more messages to come.
'It just felt like every time we went to make a video like this where we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn't feel like the right time,' he said.
'And we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it...' he added as Emily finished his sentence: '... and this feels like the moment.'
'So here we are,' Baldoni added as he cracked a smile.

'There is so much to say, and it makes it hard to speak,' Emily continued. 'It makes it hard to figure out what is right for us, for this specific moment.'
'And we're not gonna say it all,' Justin added.

'And the truth is – reality is, is that there's been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family,' she said somberly. 'Which also makes it hard to speak.'
Baldoni gazed down as he took over.
'We don't even know this is the right thing to say, but we just know we need to share something,' he said. 'What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence' – 'Untruthful,' his wife interjected – 'over the last couple years.'
Justin explained that his faith in justice had led him and his wife to hold their tongues amid his legal battle with Lively.
'That created so much noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course,' he explained.
Emily then looked into the cameras to declare, 'The truth, and the facts, have spoken for themselves.'
She turned to look affectionately at her husband before adding, 'And here we are.'
The Jane The Virgin star lightened up the video after suggesting that people stop him on the street to inquire about how he and his family are doing.

'We are . . . we are healing. And if you've ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn't linear. It looks different every day,' he shared. 'And we have to rethink for ourselves what is real, and what matters.'
'It's this,' his wife replied. 'It's the kids.'
'It's our family,' Justin agreed. 'It's our friends. It's our community who have been there for us. It's our faith.
