Since their heartbreaking fall out with son Brooklyn last year, there is nothing that Sir David and want more than to be in the same room as their oldest offspring.
And on Monday, Sir David's dream almost became a reality as he and Brooklyn narrowly missed coming face-to-face amid their feud twice at the five-star Beverly Hills hotel.
The Daily Mail can reveal that the former England captain had two very-near misses, on Monday morning and in the evening after checking in late on Sunday night after arriving from his skiing trip in British Colombia with his middle son Romeo.
Sir David, 50, had an early start to get to a filming location five miles away in Santa Monica to record an advert for Lays crisps, the sponsor of the forthcoming World Cup.
And in a twist of fate, Brooklyn arrived a few hours later to have breakfast and what onlookers described as a 'chill day' by the pool after he partied into the early hours at Sir 's party.
The 27-year-old influencer was later seen sunbathing by the hotel's lavish pool at 3pm, just three hours before Sir David, 50, arrived for dinner at the world famous Polo Lounge restaurant at 6pm with two male friends, one being David Gardner, who also once had a very close relationship with Brooklyn.
While there were three hours between Brooklyn last being seen and Sir David dining, hotel sources suggest that it could have been even less.

Friends of the Beckhams say that Sir David 'had no idea' that Brooklyn had been at the hotel when he arrived on either occasion.
Sources say that he spent the day there on Friday after having breakfast and again on Monday following his appearance at his godfather Sir Elton's Oscars viewing party at the West Hollywood Park.
Fellow guests say that he danced until the early hours – meaning he missed seeing his father when he arrived to check in.
One told the Daily Mail: 'Far from it being a summit, David was totally in the dark about where Brooklyn was and had no idea that he had just missed him, not just once, but twice.
'Brooklyn was with Elton when David arrived to check in on Sunday night, didn't get there before David left on Monday morning and then had gone before he arrived back.
'There is absolutely no contact between Brooklyn and his parents and there hasn't been for some time, it is desperately sad but that is how Brooklyn has chosen to live his life with Nicola.
'Brooklyn also probably had no idea that his father was staying in a room just yards away from where they were having their breakfast.'
'They didn't see one another, if fate had intervened and they did come face-to-face it would have been very awkward. Brooklyn has made it very clear he doesn't want anything to do with David or Victoria, so it probably saved a whole lot of upset for David.'

'He would have been devastated to be snubbed by his own son, it would have been truly awful. David looked like he was having a great time when he was at dinner, you wonder if that would have been different if he had known he had missed his son.'
Brooklyn has been a regular at the Beverly Hills hotel in recent days where he has been seen smiling in the sunshine, sometimes without his wife Nicola Peltz, 31.
It is the ideal location for him to spend the day relaxing as it is just a ten-minute drive from his and Nicola's £13million villa on the luxurious Trousdale estate.
Sir David's visit to the US was to make a commercial for Lays. On Monday morning he was seen behind the wheel of a yellow truck, dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt.
It is part of a mega deal he was signed with the crisp makers to coincide with the World Cup which kicks off in June across the US, Canada and Mexico.
Sir David and his son haven't spoken since last May when Brooklyn and Nicola snubbed his 50th birthday celebrations. The couple's lawyers wrote to the Beckhams' legal team demanding that they only converse through them.

Shortly before Christmas, Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram and in January he posted a brutal, bombshell six-page letter on the social media platform in which he claimed Sir David and Victoria controlled him for most of his life, tried to split him and Nicola up and left him embarrassed when his mother danced 'inappropriately' with him during his first dance at his wedding. She denies her son's allegations.
The Beverly Hills hotel – with its pink exterior, racing green and white striped sofas and banana yellow wallpaper – is synonymous with Hollywood glamour.
In the 1950s Marilyn Monroe called it home, Nicole Kidman has been described as a regular, and Jay-Z and Beyonce were even rumoured to have moved in while they had their nearby mansion renovated.
