Australian influencer Kat Clark has opened up about the severe mum-shaming she endures on a regular basis.
With an impressive following of over 5 million on TikTok, Clark is no stranger to the spotlight or its darker sides, as she shares her life, parenting experiences, and personal style with the world.
The 37-year-old mother-of-two recently spoke out about an incident that took place at her daughter’s football game, where another mother criticised her for wearing a crop top, suggesting it was inappropriate for her age.
Undeterred, Clark took to TikTok with a defiant message, vowing to continue wearing crop tops ‘until I’m 80,’ a stance that resonated with many of her followers.
However, the influencer admits to news.com.au that the sheer volume of negative comments can occasionally chip away at her confidence, especially when they target her appearance and clothing choices.

The digital world’s preoccupation with her decision to go braless under a particular dress sparked a wave of backlash, with some calling it ‘disgusting’ and disrespectful, given her status as a mother.
‘It’s actually mind-blowing to me that people are offended by what I chose to wear,’ she said.
‘I try to be strong and ignore the negative comments but when you see so many come through about how you look it does make you start to feel a little insecure.’

The vitriol isn’t confined to TikTok; Clark points out that Facebook users also engage in body-shaming, urging her to ‘size up’ and ‘cover up.’
Such comments have even gone as far as to mock her for being ‘overweight’ and ‘too old,’ and for the appearance of veins on her chest in a lacy top she wore in an Instagram post.
‘In another Instagram post I wore a lacy top and people were body shaming me for the veins in my chest,’ she explained.
However, the backlash isn’t going to stop the mum in her tracks, with Kat saying she wants to be a positive role model for other women and girls out there.
‘I don’t want my children or the young girls that follow me to feel like they need to change the way that they dress or present themselves based on someone else’s opinions,’ she said.
