Mitch Churi has issued a public apology to Miley Cyrus for the awkward moment he didn’t realise she had joined a Zoom interview and was left waiting for three whole minutes before he noticed she was there.
In the hilarious footage, resurfaced from the ex KIIS FM radio host’s archives on Tuesday, Mitch coughs, sneezes and takes a screenshot of the Zoom without realising Miley was already on the call and could see and hear what he was doing.
‘Public apology to Miley Cyrus for not realising I’d let her into a Zoom interview early,’ Mitch captioned the clip, which has already racked up 392,000 likes on TikTok.
In the awkward video, the three-time Grammy winner sits patiently in full glam, with a smile plastered across her face in preparation for the recorded interview.
Mitch screenshots the conversation, with the sound still on, prompting the Flowers singer to ask, ‘Hello?’
His eyes widen in embarrassment as he realises the faux pas and says, ‘Ooh hey! ‘There you are! How are you? Good morning!’

‘She was there for three minutes and didn’t say a thing,’ Mitch reflected in horror.
‘Here’s the story time because this is doing numbers. Yes I coughed. Full eyes out, mouth open, in front of Miley Cyrus,’ the former KIIS FM Nights host explained in a subsequent TikTok.
‘Miley entered [the Zoom] under an alias, so I didn’t know it was her. So that’s why I sat there toddler coughing. Everyone is asking what the screenshot was. It was a Snapchat to the family group chat Miley soon!
‘And she was there watching. And I was sick.
‘Mind you, Miley DM’d me on Instagram after laughing about it. She wasn’t offended, she thought it was funny.’
‘This was a few years ago now on my night show. I had a chat show on Australian radio for many years and I interviewed many people. In fact, this isn’t the worst one,’ Mitch confessed.
Mitch jumped over to radio rival Nova for a ‘one off’ appearance after he was brutally axed from his on-air hosting gig at KIIS FM in November.
The media personality, 28, had hosted The Night Show with Mitch Churi since 2019, as well as co-hosting The Pick Up with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne.
He said he embarrassed himself further during an interview with Sabrina Carpenter, who was then starring on Disney.
‘I’m no longer on air, so I’m going through a bunch of my old archives,’ he explained.

Mitch struck an instant chord with the singer— thanks to the selection of vinyl records his boyfriend had taped up on the wall in his at-home recording studio.
The wall featured Britney Spears, Camp Rock and High School Musical.
‘Welcome to my spare room Miley Cyrus,’ Mitch said, with the Flowers singer opening up about the Barbie and record collection in her own spare room.
‘This is nostalgic heaven, I’m really into it,’ Miley said.
‘Self expression is the most valuable thing in a relationship, so slay.’
Mitch announced live on-air in November he had been informed by KIIS FM management his contract would not be renewed, sending shock-waves across the network.
He secured a one-off cameo appearance on rival station Nova in January, taking a subtle dig at his former employer as he promised to bring all his ‘major celeb pals’ over to the competition.
‘Coming from hosting shows daily for almost a decade, the last five weeks off air have felt like an eternity,’ he said.

It’s unclear if Nova will offer him a more permanent contract following his breakfast show run on Monday, but it wouldn’t be the first time the station has offered a lifeline to axed KIIS FM talent.
Radio stars Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips were brutally dropped from their KIIS FM Melbourne breakfast show in 2023 to make way for Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s $100million expansion into the city.
However, Jase, 42, and Lauren, 41, had the last laugh when their show was picked up by Nova 100 and they ended up out-rating The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Melbourne.
