Australian influencer faces backlash for sharing unconventional baby names like Dingo and Cherub: Criticized as “literally dog names”

Australian influencer Indy Clinton has sparked the ire of her followers after revealing her list of unusual baby names. 

The Sydney-based social media star is expecting her second child and had some very creative monikers in mind. 

In a video shared to TikTok this week, which has been viewed 1.5 million times, she listed off her top picks. 

They included Cherub, Dingo, Hawk, Halo, Heart, Haze, Shiloh, Dove, Alpha and Junior. 

Indy has an attraction to creative names, with her first child, a son, called Soul.

Comments on the video raised some concerns, with many critical of her suggestions. 

‘Are you naming humans that will be adults one day? Or kittens’ wrote one person. 

‘Hopefully they can be TikTokers when they’re older because a lawyer named Bambi or a dentist named Soul…’ one more comment read. 

Indy was quick to reply: ‘They’re making their money now so they will be retired then anyway’.

‘They sound like brand names’ another said with one more commenting, ‘I can’t tell if this is a joke or not’. 

Someone else chimed in: ‘Alpha and Junior are literally dog names’ with someone else saying ‘OMG Dingo is cooked’. 

‘I’m sorry, but please stop those names sound so ridiculous. you forget they’re gonna have these names for their whole lives’ yet another commenting. 

Some liked the names, with one person writing: ‘I love Dove and Halo and have there all super cute though except for Alpha’.

Another fan agreed: ‘Love the bold unique names people are so closed minded’.
