Aubrey Plaza Stuns in Elegant Satin Gown at Emmys 2024, Following Memorable Nip-Slip Incident at 2023 SAG Awards

Aubrey Plaza put on a demure display in a high-necked gown as she attended the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday –  after suffering a wardrobe malfunction at the 2023 SAG Awards.

The actress, 39, was taking no chances as she donned the boxy yellow satin dress, which concealed her cleavage as she took to the red carpet.

The dress flashed a hint of sideboob and was paired with gold platform heels and jewelery by Effy.

Her raven locks were styled in a sleek half updo and she sported a radiant palette of make-up. Plaza is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for The White Lotus.

The star caused a stir last year in a very revealing sequin gown that featured a large front cutout showing off her toned midriff.

Defence: Aubrey Plaza's stylist has defended her revealing dress that the actress wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night

An insider confirmed speculation that Aubrey's temper was further aggravated when her co-star Jon Gries warned her that her 'boob was hanging out' of her risque gown

The White Lotus actress’ sensational Michael Kors gown featured a criss-cross halter neckline, as well as a sultry thigh-high slit.

But not everyone was a fan when the outfit was shared by fashion blogger Check the Tag on Instagram, leading stylist Jessica Paster to defend the ensemble in the comment section.

One user claimed ;the straps could be better adjusted’, while another added: ‘The straps look too tight that’s all.’

A third user wrote: ‘The colour and shimmer is gorgeous but the very large cutout design looks awkward, unflattering and a bit try-hard.’

It comes after Aubrey’s on-stage temper tantrum at the 2023 SAG Awards sparked a flurry of social media speculation over just what left her looking so furious.

Although she has not publicly addressed the incident, a source close to Aubrey revealed that her irritated outburst was prompted by several different interactions on-stage.

The first, the insider shared was a ‘direct result of her almost being elbowed in her face’ as she and her fellow female co-stars were shuffled to the back of the stage while several of the male cast members made acceptance speeches.

And, the source added, that wasn’t the only incident to rile up the actress as she and her fellow White Lotus stars took to the stage to accept the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series.

The insider confirmed speculation that Aubrey’s temper was further aggravated when her co-star Jon Gries warned her that her ‘boob was hanging out’ of her risque gown.

She was also seen muttering ‘Jesus Christ’ when her co-star used his speech to pay tribute to those who had died in the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

‘There were a couple of different things going on in that moment,’ the insider told DailyMail.com. ‘First, she was told that her boob was hanging out which would cause any woman to be uncomfortable.

‘Then she was almost elbowed in the face and her reaction was a direct result of that.’

Aubrey’s visibly ‘annoyed’ expression on-stage at the awards prompted a firestorm of social media reaction, with many viewers noticing that her first flash of anger occurred after Jon — who plays the husband of Jennifer Coolidge’s character in the show — leaned over to whisper something in her ear.

The actress looked panicked for a second before looking down at her outfit and frantically adjusting the sequined ‘straps’ that criss-crossed over her chest.

Then, as she was adjusting her gown, White Lotus actor F. Murray Abraham was giving a speech to the crowd, in which he sent a ‘prayer out to the earthquake victims of Syria and Turkey and a prayer for peace to Ukraine and Russia.’

When the crowd applauded, he shouted ‘Union Forever!’ And instead of clapping along with the cast, Aubrey was seen mouthing the word’s ‘Jesus Christ’ under her breath.

Several viewers suggested that her outburst may have been directly linked to Abraham’s speech – however what many didn’t seem to spot was that she was nearly hit in the face by the elbow of one of her co-stars as they began embracing one another on-stage.

Video from the awards ceremony shows the moment that Aubrey nearly received an elbow to the cheek when her co-star Meghann Fahy went to hug Michael Imperioli.

The strike-delayed ceremony gathers Hollywood’s biggest stars as they celebrate the best of primetime television over the year of 2023.

Comedian and Black-ish star Anthony Anderson will be making his debut as the host alongside an all-Black executive producer team for the first time in Emmy history.

Jason Bateman, Quinta Brunson, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Jodie Foster, Jon Hamm, Ken Jeong, Joel McHale are among the stars announced to take the stage on Monday.

And the nominees include Pedro Pascal, Hannah Waddingham, Keri Russell, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Hart, Elisabeth Moss, Kieran Culkin and Bob Odenkirk.

The awards ceremony normally occurs in September but was delayed because writers and actors were on strike at the time last year.

Due to the industry strikes, the Emmys were postponed to 2024 on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in the United States and arrives in the heels of the Golden Globes.

At this year's Emmys, Succession leads nominations with 27 nods. The series' stars Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox are up against each other for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series. Their co-star Sarah Snook is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama

Like at the Globes — which celebrated 2023’s top films and television shows on January 7 — Succession dominates most categories.

At this year’s Emmys, Succession leads nominations with 27 nods.

The Last of Us follows closely behind with 24, The White Lotus with 23, and Ted Lasso with 21.

Succession is in the running for the Outstanding Drama Series for the third time after previously winning the title in 2020 and 2022.

The series’ stars Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox are up against each other for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series.

Their co-star, Sarah Snook, is also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama.

The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal is up for lead actor in a drama while his co-star, Bella Ramsey, is nominated for lead actress.

Bad Sisters’ Sharon Horgan, Yellowjackets’ Melanie Lynskey, The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elisabeth Moss and The Diplomat’s Keri Russell are also in the same category for best leading actress in a drama.

The Bear’s duo Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri are also up for lead actor and supporting actress, respectively, for their roles in the restaurant dramedy’s debut season.

Due to the industry strikes and delay, the first season of The Bear is in the contending rather than the second season, which was released this past summer.

For that reason, many of nominated television shows, which were released up to 19 months ago, are now receiving their moment.

Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is up for Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series against Beef, Daisy Jones & The Six, Fleishman Is In Trouble and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

For Outstanding Comedy Series, The Bear is up against Ted Lasso as well as Abbott Elementary, Barry, Jury Duty, Only Murders In The Building, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Wednesday.

At this year’s award show, there will be a series of cast reunions and recreations to honor and commemorate beloved, classic television series like The Sopranos, Cheers, I Love Lucy and All In The Family.

Stars from Grey’s Anatomy, American Horror Story and Ally McBeal will also reunite onstage while presenting awards at the Emmys.

Fan-favorite comedians and presenter duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who is also nominated for Outstanding Host of a Reality or Competition Program, will also take the stage at the award ceremony.

The show will kick off at 5 p.m. PT and can be streamed live on Fox or FXX through streaming services such as Hulu + Live TV, Sling, DirecTV, YouTube TV and FuboTV.

The day after the award ceremony, the Emmys will be available to stream on Hulu.

The first Emmy Award was held back in 1949 to celebrate the artistic and technical merit for the television industry.
