Actor and singer Ashley Hamilton, the ex-husband of the late , was reportedly hospitalized last Thursday after an apparent overdose.

Hamilton, 51, whose parents are actor George Hamilton and model Alana Stewart, is said to be in the process of recovery and is in stable condition at the hospital.

Insiders claimed he was discovered last week while suffering a health emergency linked to an unidentified substance at an in the area, via TMZ.

He has been candid about his struggles with addiction, saying he had racked up 'half a dozen arrests' and attended '32 rehabs' by the time he was 22 years old.

Doherty and Hamilton exchanged vows in 1993 after two weeks of dating when he was 19 and she was 22, but the relationship imploded five months later. 

Hamilton, who shares his nine-year-old daughter Willow with his ex-girlfriend Renee Karalian, is currently battling a rare mucosal HPV-related  and shared weeks ago that he had submitted 'paperwork' to a Swiss clinic that offers assisted suicide.

The Daily Mail has contacted Hamilton's representative for comment.

Alongside the fact of having famous parents, Hamilton was also at one point the stepson of Rod Stewart for part of his childhood from 1979 to 1984.

His substance use began in his teenage years, when he grappled with anorexia and bulimia that he 'used the drugs and alcohol to control,' he revealed to People.

'I was in a really horrible marriage, and there were things that were transpiring in that marriage that made it really hard for me to be on time for work,' she said.

She said: 'It wasn't anybody's responsibility but mine, but I sort of wish I would have been sat down and sort of looked at and said: "Listen, the end result is going to be this - you are going to get fired and none of us are willing to put up with it anymore."' 

She and Hamilton split in 1994, five months after they tied the knot, and he then plunged into another short-lived marriage to Playboy model Angie Everhart.

This past December he shared he had undergone 'two failed marriages, two failed careers, 32 rehabs, five overdoses, three flatlines, two comas, left side of my body paralyzed, brain surgery, spleen surgery of course, staph infection in the heart, gangrene of the arms, of course shootouts from drug deals gone bad and half a dozen arrests, all by the age of 22,' in an interview for Soft White Underbelly.

A decade ago, his father George Hamilton broke down in tears while discussing his son's addiction on the blended family's reality show Stewarts & Hamiltons.

'I am very proud of you. There are about four times that we almost lost you in your life,' George told his son, at a point when the latter was sober.

Ashley Hamilton said in a confessional on the same episode: 'I went through a hard time with drugs and alcohol, it was so stupid. I blew everything but I have a second chance and I am going to give it everything I have got.'

In August 2024 he was arrested and accused of brandishing a pocket knife at a Beverly Hills hotel staffer who asked him to exit the property after waking him up on a lobby sofa at around 5am, according to . 

Last year he revealed that he was suffering from a rare mucosal HPV-related cancer, during an interview on the podcast Punk Rock Sober.

He was still battling the illness as of a follow-up Soft White Underbelly interview released three weeks ago, this time featuring him alongside a death doula.

Hamilton held forth about his harrowing experience with the disease and noted that his now nine-year-old daughter was unaware he had cancer. 

It was during that conversation that he disclosed he had 'sent all my paperwork to Switzerland' to a 'clinic' where patients undergo 'assisted suicide.'

Hamilton explained that 'what I don't wanna do is I don't wanna die in a motel with a f***in' needle in my neck and leave that stain on my daughter and leave that stain on people around me. That I don't wanna do. As easy as that would be for me to do, I don't wanna do that to people.'
