But now, the singer, 34, will reveal why she left the band in her new Amazon Prime documentary; Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix.
Speaking ahead of it's release on February 13, Jesy teased what is in store in a Q and A on Tuesday.
Of why it is now her time to tell the truth, Jesy said: 'I have never really said anything. I have always stayed quiet because - I don't actually know why I stayed quiet. I've just never said anything, and this felt like the time to tell my story.
'I speak about my childhood, my dad, the reasons why I left Little Mix, which I have never, ever spoken about, it was really tough.
'There's been a constant narrative about me and certain interviews where people have spoke and I believe gave a false narrative of why I left, so this was my turn to say my truth and why I left.

'But I also really hope that it gets put to bed after this because I feel like I have been carrying that weight for a really long time, but who knows. It was the most vulnerable time in my life, but like I said it's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and this is my truth.
'What was really lovely - because when I left it was a big explosion and all the headlines and narratives; it felt like quite a dark cloud over Little Mix.'
Jesy quit the group after nine years, blaming the pressures of fame and mental health struggles for her shock decision.

Music mogul Simon Cowell grouped the women together on the now defunct ITV show in 2011 and they became the first band to win the show in its history.
They achieved five number ones and sold an incredible 75million singles worldwide.
Jesy was believed to be in a six-year feud with her former bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock after she quit the group.
But the songstress said while the end of the band as a four was 's**t' they were best friends for nearly a decade.

Jesy catapulted to fame as part of Little Mix on The X Factor back in 2011 - but left the band after nine years
In December 2020, Jesy confirmed that she was going to leave Little Mix after nine years with this Instagram statement

She said: 'When I got to reflect on all the amazing times I had in Little Mix and you see footage of Little Mix that no one has ever seen before, and you just see how beautiful our friendship was and the reason why Little Mix was so big because we really were best friends and that was so lovely for me to reminisce.
'There was the s*** part at the end, but people forget we were together for nearly 10 years, and the majority of those times were f***ing incredible and we were, we were best mates.

'I think that people think that I just said, "right girls, I'm leaving, see you later, I'm never speaking to you again". And that is not the truth, and you will see.'
The docu-series also covers the 'most painful' time of her life as it charters her journey to motherhood, with the star suffering pregnancy complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome and giving birth to twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe.
The trailer opens with Jesy looking out to an empty stadium as she says: 'I have never spoken about this. I just always wanted to entertain people. It felt magical and then it very quickly isn't. I have just always stayed quiet. I was the one that left.'
A montage of clips play out from her Little Mix days, showing the star breaking down in tears and sitting out of group dance practice.
'I've really struggled keeping all of this in... Now I'm ready to tell my side of the story.'

After leaving the band, Jesy embarked on her solo career, releasing singles including Boyz, Bad Thing and Mine, and then later stepped away from the spotlight.
The remaining members of Little Mix - Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne - went on hiatus in 2022 to pursue solo projects.
While the trio have been vocal advocates for each other - their relationship with Jesy, who revealed in 2023 that she hadn't spoken to the girls since she quit the band - was frosty.
