But the singer still has many career paths up her sleeve.

The 43-year-old star, whose ex-husband Brandon Blackstock passed away last August following a battle with cancer, shared the surprising news on Monday that the current season of The Kelly Clarkson Show will be her last.

The Stronger hitmaker explained she was stepping back from the show to 'prioritize' her two children and sent gratitude to the team she has worked with over the years.

A source told People in an article published on Thursday that Clarkson is looking forward to a slower pace amid the 'next phase' in her life.

'After years of an intense daily schedule, she's excited to move at a different pace and have more flexibility to spend time with her kids without the structure of a daily show,' the insider said.

The songstress will also have extra time 'to be more present at home while still doing the creative work she loves.'

In regards to what else she has in store for the future, the source said that Clarkson will continue to pursue her passion for music.

'Kelly still wants to make music and perform, and she's open to popping up on projects she enjoys, but nothing that requires an ongoing daily grind.'

The insider continued, 'For her, this next phase is about balance.'

On Monday, the performer took to Instagram to announce to fans and viewers of her daytime talk show that the current seventh season will be the last - after the series first premiered in 2019.

'I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at TKCS, both in Los Angeles and New York,' Clarkson began in a statement.

She further reflected on the 'amazing moments' during her time on the show before sending gratitude to her crew, band and the fans.

The star called NBC an 'incredible partner' before admitting that it was 'not an easy decision' to step away from the talk show.

'This isn't goodbye,' the mom-of-two expressed. 'I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on The Voice from time to time... you never know where I might show up next.'

In conclusion, the singer wrote, 'But for now, I want to thank y'all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years.'

The Kelly Clarkson Show raked in a number of accolades during the course of its time on the air.

Most recently, the NBC series was nominated for eight Daytime Emmy Awards last year - winning two for Best Lighting Direction as well as Outstanding Live Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.

It comes after an insider told the Daily Mail last week that despite loving the show, it is at 'the bottom of her list of things she would like to continue doing moving forward.'

The source added that the singer 'is going to continue to give it her all this season, but she would like to wind it down and end it while still on top.'

Clarkson is mother to daughter River, 11, and son Remington, nine - whom she welcomed with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The pair had been married from 2013 until their divorce in 2022.

During a Q+A session last month in Janaury, the singer gave a rare update about how her children are doing following Blackstock's passing last year.

In a clip shared to the official YouTube channel for The Kelly Clarkson Show at the time, a fan had sent in the question: 'What is the one thing you do every day that brings you joy?'

Clarkson replied with, 'Snuggle. My kids, they're nine and eleven. Kind of that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they're still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.'

The Because Of You hitmaker then added, 'There's been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit.'

She continued, 'It's my two dogs, my two kids and me. It's a lot.'

However, the mom-of-two noted that it is 'special' due to 'the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that's probably my favorite time of day.'

Blackstock passed away at the age of 48 on August 7, 2025 following a 'brave and courageous' three-year battle with melanoma, according to an obit shared by Butte Funeral Home

A separate source previously told People last month that the singer is 'heartbroken' for her two children after Blackstock's death.

'Losing their dad is incredibly painful and confusing. But she's also very grounded. She's not someone who falls apart.'

The insider added, 'She looks at life realistically and does everything she can to make things as steady and loving as possible for her kids.'

Clarkson is focusing on being there for her children, with the source noting that the singer is 'a great mom.'
