Various netizens have been left reaching for their noise-cancelling headphones after a 2017 duet featuring Cher and Future resurfaced.

Nearly 10 years ago, the music icons sang a remix of the Sly and the Family Stone song Everyday People as part of a campaign for clothing brand The Gap.

The unusual mix has since had it's heyday, but a meme account resurrected it seeking the dismissal of those responsible for the song.

'Whoever set this collab up between Cher and Future need to be fired,' the clip read.

'get life in jail or have this play for 7 days straight in a holding cell?' one asked.

Several referenced her recent gaffe at the Grammys, where she accidentally named the deceased Luther  Vandross as the winner of an award intended for Kendrick Lamar.

'Also whoever was in charge of futures autotune needs to be fired because he does not sound human,' one person wrote.

'This how conversations sound with my parents whenever I’m geeked,' another wrote.

'Oh this fr happened?? I didn’t dream it??' one said in disbelief.

'I thought this was fake but then I’m lik they did good to hide this BULL OF (turd emoji) cause wtf (laughing sob emojis).'

The original commercial saw the two artists sing their own rendition of the hit song Everyday People, a song Cher picked out.

'It's just a great song,' she told Vogue at the time. 'They gave me a million songs [to choose from] and that was the song that I was drawn to.

In the clip, each is seen walking into a white room decorated with just lights and a staircase, and the two sit on the stairs to perform together.

Naturally, Cher — dressed in jeans and a bomber jacket — does much of the singing, while Future occasionally chimes in with spoken words for accent.

'There was a great dynamic when working with Cher and we felt like we were doing something so much bigger than the two of us,' Future said in a statement at the time. 'Gap is not only bringing two cultures together but bringing everyone together through the music and the style.'

The resurfaced song comes days after Cher caused a bit of a stir at the Grammy awards over the weekend.

Shortly before announcing the award for record of the year, the 79–year–old had been 'surprised' by host Trevor Noah, who handed her a lifetime achievement award.

Cher then left the stage, only to have to be called back to finish presenting the award.

The Believe star joked that she had expected her lines to be on the teleprompter, when in fact she was required to read the winners name from a card in an envelope – and when she did so, she accidentally named the late singer Luther Vandross - who died in 2005 - as the winner, rather than Kendrick Lamar.

The award was actually for the song titled Luther, a collaboration between Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

Cher announced, 'Luther; Luther Gandross [sic] – no, Kendrick Lamar!'
