The 2025 BAFTAs Awards kicked off with a memorable – and slightly chaotic – opening performance from host David Tennant.
The Doctor Who star, 53, started the ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in style on Sunday with a powerful rendition of I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers.
Dressed in a kilt, BBC viewers praised the actor’s ‘brave’ and ‘brilliant’ performance as he made a grand entrance into the auditorium.
But it was Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner who became the unexpected stars of the night after their baffled reactions to the skit sent social media into a frenzy.
During David’s performance fans couldn’t but notice the American stars as they looked completely clueless to what was going on.
Although they tried to hide their awkwardness, eagle-eyed fans could see straight through their act.

Elsewhere in the night, Kylie’s fans joked she is ‘not in Calabasas anymore’ as David interacted with her and boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.
David joked that the Wonka actor was actually the ‘runner up’ of the Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition which he turned up to himself back in October.
David said: ‘We are very privileged tonight to be joined by the runner up in New York’s recent Timothée Chalamet competition. Welcome to the BAFTAs. I can see it young man. There is a definite likeness isn’t there. How long are you in London?’
Timothée replied: ‘Three days’.
David joked: ‘You got to work on the voice, not quite got the voice yet. Lovely attention to detail though he is with a Kylie Jenner lookalike.’
