Angela Bassett rocked a glamorous and stylish look as she hit the red carpet for the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.

The 64-year-old actress hit the red carpet at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday evening.

She presented the award for Best Supporting Actor at the awards ceremony, which was won by Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer.

Bassett stepped out with a glamorous and strapless black dress with diamonds embedded in the plunging neckline.

The black gown fell all the way to the red carpet, as she accessorized with a diamond-studded bracelet and stylish earrings.

Bassett made headlines for planting a kiss on Regina Hall after she presented her with an award at the Governor Awards.

Bassett gave an impassioned speech, talking about acting as not just a career but a calling. She said the honorary Oscar is not just another award but ‘a testament to my legacy.’

The 65-year-old received her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What´s Love Got to Do With It and her second last year for playing the grieving queen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

She noted that she´s only the second Black actress to receive the honorary Oscar, following in the footsteps of the late Cicely Tyson who she considered a mentor.

‘The stakes are extremely high because history depends on us,’ Bassett said. ‘My prayer is that we leave this industry more enriched.’

In a red carpet interview with Variety, the acclaimed entertainer said she plans to keep her statue in her kitchen. 

‘I was actually looking around the house. I was like, “Ooh, in the living room,” but it’s like — I don’t go in there enough,’ she explained.

She continued with a laugh, ‘So, it’s going to be in the kitchen! It’ll start out there. I think it’ll start out there.’

When asked if she was concerned about it getting damaged in such a busy area of her home, Angela said coyly, ‘But it’s a precious metal. Nothing will happen to it.’

In the early 90s, she was Oscar nominated for her iconic portrayal of Tina Turner in the biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It?

Her next Oscar nod didn’t come until she starred in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The nomination saw her become the first actor to be nominated for a Marvel Studios superhero movie.
