It comes after just last week George and Amal enjoyed a sun-drenched sojourn in St Tropez, where they celebrated the actor's milestone 65th birthday.

The couple laughed and chatted together after enjoying a leisurely lunch with friends at Club 55, an exclusive club and restaurant offering breathtaking views.

Their day trip included a boat ride from the yacht to shore and even then, Clooney stayed glued to his wife's side.

Last month, in an interview with Page Six at the 51st Chaplin Award Gala, where he was being honored, the Oscar winner was asked about the big birthday coming up and whether it was like 'the third act.'

'Well, let's hope! Depends on how long the whole show runs,' Clooney quipped.

He spoke about his time being more focused on philanthropy these days, such as the Clooney Foundation for Justice, which he founded with Amal.

'I'm spending it more working on the foundation, working more on the schools and doing things that I find more fulfilling because I'm not chasing a career anymore, you know.

'That's helpful in a way because you get to spend time working on things that matter to you at least. And so that's where my focus is. But, you know, if you get a good part, you take it.'
