Fast forward to today, and looks just as youthful as ever as she celebrates her 45th birthday on Saturday.

So much so that the model often leaves fans pondering how she maintains her insane figure and radiant looks. 

The secret of which could be in her diet, and luckily for fans, Alessandra has revealed what she eats in a day.

She typically favours a balanced diet focused on high-protein and nutrient-dense foods.

After waking up at 7.30 am and brushing her teeth, she will prepare a healthy breakfast of eggs, English muffins, fruit, and coffee.

On occasion, she will add some bacon to her morning diet, but only once in a while. 

The model will then usually head off to the gym or attend a Pilates class to meet a friend.

'It's important to break a sweat every day, and I love the way Pilates makes me feel long and lean,' she told Glamour.

After her class, Alessandra will stop into a cafe and pick up a coffee before heading home. 

Once home, she 'loves to make a protein smoothie low in sugar,' along with various vegetables and fruits to go along with her main diet.

As for lunch, she usually has a salad with chicken or fish.

If she's at home, she cooks her own lunch and if she's working, she tries to find a healthy take out.

When she's on the go, her favourite snacks include chia seed energy bars, almonds and fruit. 

She carries these at all times, so she's not tempted to reach for a sugary treat. 

However, when she's at home, there's a special cake she loves to make with her two kids on special occasions. 

'I'll bake a carrot cake with chocolate topping,' she said in an episode of Deglazed. '[my kids and I] will do that together.'

When it comes to dinner, Alessandra opts for healthy options like grilled fish, salads, and traditional moqueca.

The model also enjoys Brazilian-style barbecues featuring grilled steak, vegetables, and salads.

But while she loves to eat a healthy diet, Alessandra does enjoy treats in moderation, including dark chocolate and wine.

If she's going out with her friends for dinner, her favourite meal is sushi. 

'I have a serious weakness for Japanese food, and Katsuya is one of my favourites,' she told Glamour.

'So if I want a little bit of dark chocolate on a plane or a cocktail with friends on the weekend, I'll have it.

'In fact, I'll drink a glass of red wine with dinner most nights, and two or three times a week I'll have a cup of tea and a cupcake…' 

The model previously opened up about there being a misconception that models avoid decadent foods. 

'They say models don't eat to keep our figures,' she told Yahoo Life, 'but for me, I always loved food — I think everything with moderation is fine.

'I love my curves. I like to eat. I like to be healthy,' she said. 'Of course, I love a dessert or some French fries.'
