Suzanne Somers’ second husband Alan Hamel got emotional after singing her happy heavenly 77th birthday on Monday while surrounded by seven of his nearest and dearest the day after she lost her 23-year battle with stage II breast cancer.
The 87-year-old widow exclaimed ‘We love you!’ and passionately clapped for his late wife before burying his face in his hands while absolutely overwhelmed with grief.
In the clip posted Tuesday night on Suzanne’s Instagram page, no one blew out the 12 golden candles atop the purple-iced, heart-shaped cake in honor of their beloved ‘Zan Zan’ who ‘was crazy for cake.’
‘[She loved] all cakes!’ Alan said in this week’s People.
‘If she could get her hands on a red velvet cupcake, that would make her day.’

Joining Hamel at the marble table were his 61-year-old daughter Leslie Hamel, 28-year-old granddaughter Daisy Hamel-Buffa, Somers’ 57-year-old son Bruce Somers Jr., Maureen Gilmartin, and Paula Gilmartin.
‘Happy Birthday on what would have been your 77th birthday,’ Bruce wrote to his late mother on Monday.
‘Please gorge on all the birthday cake you want while you make all the other angels sing, dance, laugh and cry. Today, Heaven is lucky.’
The Daytime Emmy-nominated host’s posthumous post received condolence comments from 21 Jump Street alum Holly Robinson Peete and Emmy nominee Rosanna Arquette.
‘Thank you for the out-pouring of love and affection for Suzanne. So many of you have asked what you can do to support our family,’ her family captioned the video.
‘The most comforting gesture for us is to hear how Suzanne affected all of your lives. We have set up a Tribute Book at SuzanneSomers.com, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would add your comments. It helps for us to hear how her legacy of love lives on in all of you.’
November 11th would’ve marked the inseparable couple’s 46th wedding anniversary.
Alan – who gave Suzanne her birthday poem on Sunday – told NBC News on Monday that her death came as a surprise because she had been ‘doing well’ after spending six weeks with specialists in Chicago.
