Celebrity Big Brother host AJ Odudu says her dream signing is a US star from Netflix series Selling Sunset as she admits Americans are good value because they ‘don’t understand the show’s concept.’

The presenter, 36, told MailOnline she and co-host Will Best, 39, haven’t been trusted with knowing the lineup but she hopes it includes a reality star from the United States because she loves watching the ‘two worlds collide.’

AJ says she is particularly entertained when a US celebrity has no idea who the other housemates are as well as being shocked by the economy food budget, lack of luxury amenities and the harsh treatment from Big Brother.

But after Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith was rumoured to be joining the cast, Will has set his sights on a member of the royal family, saying his winning formula for the show is recruiting housemates from different generations.

Speaking ahead of the new series, AJ said: ‘I definitely want to see someone from Selling Sunset, I want an American.

‘They never quite fully understand the concept and they never know who the other UK celebrities are. The two worlds colliding is always perfection to watch.

‘Everyone goes in and thinks they are going to keep up their squeaky clean celebrity persona and it’s all going to be filtered and edited how they would like it but actually the control is taken out of their hands and very simple things are stripped away from them, all of their luxuries, they will be disarmed on the get go.

‘We want some A-list celebrities to get in there and ask where’s the champagne? We went them to think it’s going to be luxurious, but we’ve given them an economy shopping budget.’

Will added: ‘I want to have a mix of ages, again it’s that intergenerational thing and seeing the difference between old school celebrities and new ones… things were more cushy back then for them…

‘I want a musician, a sports person, a royal, yeah great get a royal in there it would be hilarious, a reality personality, they are part of the fabric of our current celebrity culture.’

The UK’s last season of Celebrity Big Brother took place in 2018 on Channel 5 before the civilian show relaunched on ITV last year.

Despite fronting the programme’s reboot, AJ says she is in the dark about the lineup, with rumoured names including Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, former X Factor star Louis Walsh and Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas.

She said: ‘We don’t even know how many celebrities it is going to be.

‘I’m good at keeping secrets. Do not be deceived by this big gob. I would say I know but I’m not allowed to tell you but I actually don’t know.’

Following the success of the civilian series, AJ says there’s nothing she and Will are going to change about their presenting style and co-hosting with her longtime friend is the best part of working on the franchise.

But diehard fans can look forward to more eliminations, the return of spinoff show Late and Live, and the launch show will also be live, giving viewers the chance to follow the action as it happens.

AJ said: ‘It’s so exciting that the launch show is going to be live. We can now be trusted.

‘One of the best things about this show and the experience was getting to work alongside one of my best mates.

‘Myself and Will have been friends for years and we have worked on different shows together so it is like a dream come true going to work with your mate, knowing you’re in a safe pair of hands no matter what and I want to do more together.’

Will added: ‘I wouldn’t change anything. It was nerve wracking presenting the reboot because there was a lot of pressure on it but the one thing that wasn’t nerve wracking was knowing I was going to be with AJ.

‘There are two evictions a week so we will have double the time together. We get each other midweek as well.’

Last series, AJ stunned audiences by wearing a latex catsuit, which she joked only fitted after her team applied a large amount of talcum powder.

And she hopes to up the ante now she’s hosting the Celebrity version, saying she’s looking to make a big impact with her outfits.

She said: ‘I love me a bit of latex and I love me a catsuit, but I don’t know what I’m wearing for the first show. I feel like it’s going to be a revolution though.

‘We have done the latex, this is more of a plea and a message to my stylist, we don’t need an entire tub of talcum powder this series and five people and a lot of ambition, let’s hope that the outfits are going to be easier to get into this series but just as impactful.’
