Vanessa Hudgens shot down the idea of a return to the music industry after winning The Masked Singer’s eleventh season.

The 35-year-old singer appeared as the Goldfish during the new run of the hit singing competition series, and she came out on top during Wednesday night’s finale.

The Disney Channel alum spoke to Entertainment Weekly and stated that, while she was enthusiastic about her win, she was not planning on singing again anytime soon.

Hudgens said: ‘I always say life is about priorities and that’s just not a top priority right now. Who knows? Maybe down the line, maybe it will be, but as of now, it’s still no.’

The High School Musical actress also remarked that she became increasingly competitive over the length of the show’s season.

‘I’m my worst critic, so I was doing what I could to make myself proud and being as nitpicky as possible, because while I was anonymous, it’s still me under there, and I want to be proud of the work that I was doing,’ she said.

Hudgens also expressed that she saw her participation in The Masked Singer as a way to cater to her fans who wanted her to resume her musical career.

She stated: ‘This kind of just came around at the perfect time, and my fans had been asking, saying, “We want more music, we want singing anything, give it to us please.”‘

The actress added: ‘I was like, you know, this would be a really interesting way to give my fans what they want, but make sure they’re really fans.’

Hudgens also admitted that she did not make much of an effort to conceal her identity while competing in The Masked Singer.

‘I wasn’t really trying to cover it up. I was covering up myself, so I felt like that was good enough,’ she said.

The actress gained prominence as a singer after being featured on several High School Musical soundtrack albums.
