While joining Taylor Swift in her latest music video, Josh Charles had a slight crisis of loyalty as a Swiftie dad.
The Golden Globe nominee, 52, opened up about the ‘most memorable’ experience making a ‘Fortnight’ cameo alongside his Dead Poets Society co-star Ethan Hawke.
‘I’ve admired Taylor for a long time, but meeting her in person took my fandom to a whole new level,’ he wrote Saturday on Instagram after the video with Post Malone dropped.
‘Genuine, kind, approachable, and just an all around stellar human being – Not to mention a kick ass director to boot!’ added Charles.
He also shared a photo of himself rocking a pair of sweats promoting Swift’s 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department. ‘Swift swagging away!’ he wrote.

‘I don’t like keeping secrets so that was hard. I didn’t even tell my kids until the other day!’ he admitted on Instagram
Swift also gushed about working with Charles and Hawke, as well as paying tribute to the movie through her album The Tortured Poets Department
On Sunday, Charles, 52, shared a black-and-white photo of himself with Hawke, 53, as they boarded a flight to work with Swift, 34, on the video.
‘Little debrief about yesterday: I don’t like keeping secrets so that was hard,’ he started in the caption. ‘I didn’t even tell my kids until the other day!’
Charles shares son Rocco, 9, and a 5-year-old daughter with wife Sophie Flack, whom he married in 2013.
‘Here’s a couple of tortured old poets about to board an early flight to be pop stars for a day,’ he continued in the caption.
‘Been through a lot with this dude over the years, but safe to say this was a most memorable day. We were treated with such class by Taylor and her crew from beginning to end.’
Charles added, ‘What I’ll remember most was the laughter. There was a lot of it. Like we were 17 all over again.’
Hawke also raved about the experience in the comments section, while referencing their characters from the 1989 movie.
‘Hell Yeah, Josh…. I think we should keep it rolling- like Maybe Todd & Knox start appearing mysteriously in the background of all the world’s great poets!’ he wrote.
In Dead Poets Society, a teenage Hawke and Charles played students at an all-boys prep school, where an unorthodox English teacher (Robin Williams) takes them under his wing.

‘I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, @ethanhawke and @mrjoshcharles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets),’ she wrote on Instagram.
After dropping The Tortured Poets Department on Thursday and the ‘Fortnight’ video on Friday, the lead single has already broken Spotify’s record for most streams in a single day.
The TPD release comes amid a two-month break from Swift’s record-smashing Eras Tour, which resumes May 9 in France.
