Where is Coronation Street star Bruno Langley now? We delve into the disgraced actor’s life seven years after he was axed from the cobbles following sexual assault conviction
RISE TO FAME
Bruno was born to Australian parents in Somerset before growing up in Buxton, Derbyshire, with his parents and siblings Joshua, Amy, Gita, Rosie and Edie.
The aspiring actor trained at North Cheshire Theatre before he landed the role of Todd in 2001 as the soap’s first openly gay character.
Appearing in the soap until 2004, Bruno then took a break from the cobbles and secured a small role as Adam Mitchell in Doctor Who.
He also featured in the film The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse in June 2005 and an episode of Dalziel and Pascoe.
Bruno returned to Corrie briefly in 2007 before it was later announced in 2013 he would be coming back once again as a regular character.
The star has also tried his hand at theatre work, making his stage debut in 2005 in an acclaimed run of Romeo and Juliet at Stafford Castle.
He also joined the tour of Calendar Girls in 2010 until 2011 with the role of young photographer Lawrence, and starred in the 60th anniversary tour of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap a year later.

SEXUAL ASSAULT
Yet Bruno’s career came crumbling down when he was axed from Coronation Street in 2017 following his sexual assault conviction, after he groped two women on a drunken night out.
The actor pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault at a hearing in November 2017, and was given a 12-month community order, including 40 days of rehabilitation activity and to submit to a curfew.
He offered a tearful apology for his actions, and said he would be attending therapy sessions and alcoholic anonymous meetings.
He said in a statement: ‘I sincerely apologise to the people involved and affected by my disgraceful behaviour on the evening of 30th September.
‘I have absolutely no memory of what happened because of excessive alcohol consumption and it was for this reason that I behaved completely out of character.
‘However, I take full responsibility for my actions that night.
‘Since this incident I have been dealing with, and confronting, some personal issues that I have never addressed, and I am also getting help for an alcohol problem, so that this does not ever happen again.’
He also told The Sunday Mirror: ‘I’ve been living way too fast for too long… My drinking had escalated. The wheels fell off. I wasn’t particularly happy… I’ve started going to see a counsellor and been attending AA meetings and that’s helped.
‘I have no excuse, no one forced me to drink to such an extreme, but it is hard to explain why I would do anything as dreadful as that. It must have been awful for those women, and I am ashamed of myself. I’m truly sorry.’
He added: ‘I sincerely apologise to the women, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will never do anything like that again.’

SACKING
Bruno, who played Todd for 16 years, was hastily written out of the show following his assault charge, with the character going on the run after insulting a police officer.
A source told MailOnline at the time: ‘Bruno’s contract ended on October 26th following an internal inquiry which is separate to any police investigation.
‘He has not filmed any scenes since the inquiry started, but scenes featuring Bruno will continue to be screened until December 24th. Storylines beyond this point have been rewritten.’
Following his departure from the soap Coronation Street removed all traces of the disgraced star from the set before drafting in his replacement, Gareth Pierce, who reprised the role in 2020.
To ensure there was no sightings of anything to do with Bruno on screen, bosses replaced all his photos in onscreen mum Eileen’s house with that of Gareth.
His face was even Photoshopped into childhood pictures of Todd on set alongside actor Ryan Thomas, who played Todd’s brother Jason.

WHERE IS HE NOW?
At the time of his court case the judge said the convictions meant Bruno would probably not work in the TV industry again.
And since leaving the soap, the star has left the world of television behind and embarked on a new career in photography.
Announcing his new career in a Twitter post in 2019, he wrote: ‘I just wanted to reach out and say that yes I am a photographer now, I’m really happy being creative in this way, and I make people really happy with what I do.’
Referring to his disappearance from the public eye following his convictions he continued: ‘I have been taking some time out these last two years or so to catch my breath, reassess what is important to me, and to make myself a better person.
‘I understand some people will want to say negative things and that is fine, I can take it.
‘I have been shown so much support and love by so many people, be it friends, family, or strangers I meet, and I want to thank you from my heart for being so amazing and compassionate towards me.’
He also pursued a career in music, after he shared his track Downpour on Spotify in 2021.
Featuring his sister Amy on the cello, Bruno took to Instagram to promote his latest work as he penned: ‘Good evening friends, brothers & sisters. My latest track ‘Downpour’ is available to stream right now.

‘My beautiful and endlessly talented sister Amy provided the Cello for me -thank you so much sister, I love you. I am really happy to share this track with you, I had a great time making it. All my best – Bru x’.
However it seems Bruno hasn’t been in the studio since releasing the track which marks his last post on Instagram in June 2021.
In 2020, Bruno also created a free audiobook of bedtime stories available for parents to download.
Titled Beautiful Bedtime Stories, the star collaborated with writers Chris Edwards and Graham Seed on the project which included six stories for children aged five to 11.
