Lana Del Rey shocked fans this week when she tied the knot with gator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene on Thursday — just one month after their romance was revealed.
While the speed of the nuptials will no doubt have raised eyebrows, it appears Lana has been looking for a man just like him for years.
Back in 2012, when Lana was Scottish singer Barrie-James O’Neill – who is two years younger than her – she revealed that her typical type was an older man.
She offered up the information when discussing the music video for her single Ride, in which she kissed older men.
‘I love running narratives and long monologues with beautiful visuals. [We filmed Ride] in Las Vegas and so I got to tell one side of my story that way,’ she shared on BBC Radio One.

‘Does that involve snogging and caressing older men? Yes that’s my style!’ Lana continued. ‘No, not really, but I do love men who have experienced a lot of life and who have known and done it all. The men in the video were Las Vegas natives and it was fun to have them on board.’
At 49, Jeremy is 10 years older than Lana so suits her typical type.
The alligator tour guide also fits her type in terms of being humble and modest.
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in November, the singer explained that she once ended a relationship because he wasn’t content with her modest living space.
Her home – described as ‘exceedingly modest’ by the magazine’s writer – is said to have put off an unnamed ex.
She explained: ‘We had some fights over this house. A couple people they didn’t get it.
‘I feel like even the most chill guy doesn’t really want to chill here. Sadly, part of you knows… that ain’t it… That one shocked me. I won’t name names and whatever, but that one really shocked me, that person. That was actually the end of a relationship.’
Pressed on whether she thought the ex had expected more from her, Lana mused: ‘There was something going on with them, like a little bubble ego. See, I don’t get to have one anymore. It’s been smashed to smithereens.’

It’s a refreshing mentality for a multi-millionaire who is said to be worth $30 million and reportedly owns two hillside properties in Los Angeles – making up a near $6 million real estate portfolio.
In contrast Jeremy spent much of his adult life in a four-bed, four-bath home in Des Allemands, estimated to be worth around $340,000, where he raised his three children with ex-wife Gina.
Elsewhere in the chat, Lana opened up about being single as she was quizzed on whether she wanted to find love.
‘Well, I’ll tell you. It hasn’t crossed my mind in the last five months on the road or here yet,’ she explained. But give it a week. My history, sure, it’s coming for me at some point. Yeah. It would be interesting if it didn’t. It would be interesting if it didn’t.’
On whether she could imagine a life without finding love, she continued: ‘I don’t know. I think I would have to get my orientation toward where I want to be geographically stronger in my solar plexus, like a knowingness there, before I could tune into a stronger desire romantically.
‘Because if you don’t feel a connection necessarily to the pavement you’re walking on, the love thing stays over there.’
Yet 10 months on and that is no longer a concern for Lana after tying the knot.
The couple exchanged vows by the water in Des Allemandes, Louisiana — the same bayou where Jeremy operates his popular swamp boat tours.

The classic floor-length frock had an elegant ruffled neckline, a billowing skirt and a modest train that dragged on the gravel aisle.
Instead of his go-to trucker hat, Jeremy rocked a chic black suit, white dress shirt and brown leather shoes for their backyard nuptials.
The singer first met the father-of-two in 2019, before being spotted holding hands with him on August 25 in England.
She then attended Karen Elson’s wedding with Jeremy earlier this month – with the smitten couple holding hands at the star-studded bash – which saw Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in attendance.
