The incredibly successful tanning line held 60 per cent of the market share in Australia as of 2021 and is the number one self tanning brand in the world.
It is also sold at American retailers such as Walgreens, Ulta Beauty, Target, CVS and Rite Aid.
Bondi Sands, which Shaun co-founded, was acquired by Japanese-owned multinational Kao Group for almost $450m in August 2022.
Shaun then splashed some of his lavish earnings on the purchase of a sprawling Byron Bay mansion in what has been dubbed the ‘Golden Grid’ of the cashed-up area.
The couple have some very famous neighbours including laidback Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa, as well as his brother Liam Hemsworth.
Shaun and Tess’ luxury home, which he bought for $8.26million just months ago, sits on an elevated 1010sqm block and features a modern exterior with a columned porch area.
Bondi Sands continues to be one of the most successful household names in beauty, with 56 products now sold across 32 different countries.
The sprawling fake tan empire began with a simple idea in 2008.

James had been running fake tanning salons in the friends’ native Melbourne when the state government introduced strict regulations for anyone under the age of 18.
He was forced to turn customers away from his tanning salon at the time, called Body Bronze, and those customers were forced to use at-home tanning products, which they’d complain weren’t half as good as the salon.
James brought Shaun on-board to invest in filling the gap in the market with fake tan in a can that looked and felt like the real ‘quintessential Aussie tan’ – and Bondi Sands was born.
Now in their late twenties, both men made enough money from that one golden idea to set their growing families up for the good life.
