Sharing a video to TikTok on Monday, The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins revealed he had woken up to the videos circulating online. He thanked the couple for helping him feel like the ‘dad of the year’ as he gushed over the delight of his young daughter
‘It was a really heartwarming moment for me and my little girl, who can’t wait to tell her friends at school,’ Justin said. ‘So thanks Taylor, thanks Travis.’
As the clip began, Justin revealed he had watched Taylor’s Eras Tour show in Zurich weeks earlier – and how a personalised note from the singer saying she was a fan of the song had amazed his daughter.
He said: ‘So a few weeks ago I went to see Taylor Swift at the stadium in Zurich and the hospitality they showed us was extraordinary. There was a man on a golf buggy guiding us into the main stadium bit, parked up near the trucks and they put us in a lovely VIP area. I had Chris Rock on one side, Roger Federer on the other side, and I was just dad of the year.
‘To make matters even more spectacular, Taylor Swift even sent me a lovely letter, which was waiting for me in the VIP section, taking about how much she loves the song I Believe In A Thing Called Love.
‘I was just dad of the year, maybe dad of the century, because all of that was a big surprise.’
Going on to discuss the recent viral moment at the US Open, Justin added: ‘Speaking of big surprises, everybody has forwarded me some footage of I Believe In A Thing Called Love being played at the US Open and Taylor Swift and her partner Travis dancing along to it, just enjoying the music.
‘So it was a really heartwarming moment for me and my little girl, who can’t wait to tell her friends at school.
‘So thanks Taylor, thanks Travis, thanks to everybody who enjoys tennis. That’s a really lovely start to the day. Nice one guys, cheers.’

Taylor and Travis defied fake romance rumours as they put on a loved-up display at the US Open final together.
The pair have been in the midst of a media storm after pictures of a ‘break-up contract’ circulated online – causing Travis to draft in lawyers.
But in recent days they have quashed speculating with numerous loved-up outings to prove they are as strong as ever.
In their most recent appearance on Sunday, Taylor looked sensational in a red gingham mini dress complete with a corset bust – as well as sporting a striking red lip.
At the US Open, Taylor and Travis were seen embracing one another in the stands as they got enthusiastic about the match between Jannik Sinner, of Italy, and Taylor Fritz, of the United States.
On Tuesday, Travis’s representatives were forced to deny that the couple have plans to split later this month after a document written on the headed paper of his US PR company was spread online.
The paperwork which appears to have been created by Los Angeles-based firm Full Scope, reveals a strategy to make their split, and says the date for an announcement is September 28.

It also outlines a supposed plan to release an official statement at the end of this month – three days ‘post-break up’ to ‘allow the initial media frenzy to settle and ensure clarity’.
It adds that the announcement will be ‘gracious, respectful and stress mutual respect.
Laying out what the statement would say, they write: ‘Example: Travis and Taylor have decided to part ways after careful consideration. They both value and respect each other’s personal lives and appreciate your respect for privacy during this time.
‘They are both committed to their careers and personal growth. They remain friends and wish each other the best.’
