Zayn Malik: Marriage Needed Before Introducing Girlfriend to Khai

Zayn Malik has revealed his strict rule around his daughter Khai. 

The One Direction singer shares his five-year-old with supermodel ex Gigi Hadid and while he is currently single, he revealed he would not introduce a love interest to Khai before being 'really serious' about the romance. 

In a rare interview, Zayn, who split from Gigi in 2021 after six years of dating, spoke to Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper about dating. 

He admitted that it would 'kind of suck' to introduce his daughter to a girlfriend if there was no future in the romance. 

Zayn said: 'I think I would have to be really serious about that woman, and maybe plan on marrying her before she'd be introduced to my daughter...

He admitted that it would 'kind of suck' to introduce his daughter to a girlfriend if there was no future in the romance

'I feel like it's a lot of pressure, call me old school but, I wouldn't ever want to put that pressure on someone else either.'

He went on to contemplate the prospect of a love split and its impact on Khai, saying: 'Like, meet my daughter, have a relationship with her and then it doesn't work out between me and you...

'You've gone somewhere and you have this relationship with my daughter then she won't see you again. Kinda sucks, you know? I wouldn't want to put her through that.' 

Elsewhere in the chat, Zayn revealed he gave Khai £500 when she lost her first tooth, as he gave a rare insight into fatherhood and explained how he sometimes overcompensates with his daughter.

Zayn said Gigi told him off after giving their daughter that much money but defended his actions stating that he 'works his a*** off'.

He said: 'I'm raising her in an environment that isn't the same as everybody's, her dad is a pop star and her mum is a model and certain things that she does in life might not reflect what other people's understanding of reality is.

'So I think I gave her a bit too much money from the tooth fairy - £500. It's her first tooth and her mum gave me s*** about it but at the end of the day I work my a*** off and I should be able to give my kid what I want to give her.

Alex gasped: 'Hold on, I may have to agree with her mum on this. £500 for one tooth! That's so crazy, but also everyone is going to be so jealous right now.'

'She's my first kid, give me a break somebody please', Zayn said.

'People in general look at it a certain way but at the end of the day I was lucky if I got anything for my teeth and I've worked really hard for everything I have earned so I don't feel like I have to answer for them things.'

He added: 'There's definitely a feeling of '" didn't get to do this so I want you to be able to feel this". I over compensate a little bit too much for that.'

Speaking about little Khai's aspirations for the future, Zayn said she wishes to be a K-pop star.

He said: 'Honestly I just hope that she gets to do in life what she wishes to do and she's happy.

'She definitely wants to be a K-pop star, she's big into K-pop. I'd like to keep her away from it but at the end of the day if she's happy, I'll support her.
