Zara McDermott has lifted the lid on her and ‘energetic’ Sam Thompson’s relationship revealing she’s usually the one ‘wanting to go out and do a million things’.
The pair have been dating for four years after the Love Island star, 26, ‘slid into his DMs’ but she will not be flying out to Australia to greet Sam, 31, when he leaves the I’m A Celebrity Jungle.
Zara has been supporting Sam on social media and last night answered questions about their relationship and his overly energetic and enthusiastic behaviour towards his fellow campmates.
When an Instagram follower asked about the dynamic of their relationship, she said: ‘It’s different to what people expect it to be.
‘He’s definitely more hyperactive and energetic around groups of people whereas I’m a lot more reserved.

‘But when he’s comfortable around you he mellows out a lot more and is more calm.
‘When he’s at home he’s often recharging his batteries because he does get quite exhausted by himself, bless him.
‘So when it’s just us, I’m usually the one wanting to go out and do a million things.
‘I’m the one who wants to be doing things all the time and he does like his downtime at home, he’s a bit of a homebody.’
Zara’s revelations into the couple’s private life will come as a shock to I’m A Celebrity viewers who have only ever seen Sam hyper-energetic, jumping on other campmates and asking to sit on Tony Bellew’s knee.
The Made in Chelsea star is the bookies’ favourite to win but Zara will not meet the potential King of the Jungle in Australia because she believed she would still be in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Speaking about the show, she said: ‘I have days where I feel sad and I miss it, and then days where I feel ok and super positive about how I did on the show.’
She was voted off in the sixth week and revealed that she is still overcoming the ‘grieving process’.

Sam turned down the opportunity for Zara to greet him despite her schedule opening up and she recently told Fleur East on The Hits Radio Breakfast Show: ‘When I left Strictly I was like ‘Shall I pack my case?’ and he went ‘Oh no it’s already been arranged Pete is coming’.’
Sam previously opened up on how their conflicting work schedules have put a ‘strain on the heartstrings’ as the couple have spent another month apart from each other.
Towie star Pete Wicks, 35, landed at Brisbane Airport last night in preparation to meet his podcasting and presenting partner after he leaves the show.
Supportive pal Pete has insisted Sam ‘should not be defined by his ADHD and autism’ during his stint in the jungle.
The TV personality, 35, told MailOnline that fans need to ’embrace’ Sam’s excitable personality after he was branded ‘attention seeking’ and ‘annoying’ by viewers in the early days of the series.
And while Pete admits that although the Made In Chelsea favourite can be ‘aggravating’ and is a ‘bit full on’ when you first meet him, he has urged the I’m A Celeb audience to enjoy his positivity.
Earlier this year, Sam, 31, was diagnosed with ADHD and autism after undergoing tests in his Channel 4 documentary Is This ADHD? and said the realisation was a ‘weight lifted off his shoulders.’

Former TOWIE star Pete says his friend’s diagnosis means he will struggle with life in the jungle, but it shouldn’t stop ITV viewers from getting to know the real Sam on a more personal level.
Pete said: ‘Sam is a grower, not a shower, let’s put it that way.
‘I know he got a bit of grief on the first night for being over the top but that is him and that’s the reason that everyone loves him. I think he’s a superstar just the way he is. It just takes a bit of time if you’re not used to it.
‘It’s like having a big child… that’s how he sees me, I like to think it’s brotherly, but I think he sees me as his dad.
‘He is quite obviously aggravating, however, that is the Sam that we know, and love and I specifically love. I’m hoping that he can continue being the happy puppy that he is.
‘Sam struggles with boredom and a lot of things because of his ADHD and autism but that shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing. I have read a lot of comments and it’s something that I believe shouldn’t define him.
‘People should embrace that because he’s entertaining and that’s what the show is about. He should be defined by the fact that he’s a really fun, positive guy and that’s his personality aside from having ADHD and autism.’

Sam has revealed this stint on I’m A Celebrity could be his final foray into reality television after rising to fame on the Channel 4 show Made in Chelsea in 2013 and appeared in 163 episodes.
He left the show in 2018 after admitting he found it a struggle to film alongside his ex-girlfriend Sophie Habboo and the time.
He and Zara left their mark on the show after having a, now viral, emotional interaction after it was revealed she had cheated on him with the music director Brahim Fouradi who worked on Simon Cowell’s record label Syco which she was filming X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.
