Strictly star Zara McDermott has shared a health update with her fans as she revealed whether she will be needing surgery after a painful injury.
The Love Island star, 27, is recovering from a stress fracture in her tibia and was previously told by doctors that it was likely she would need further surgery to help the healing process.
However after taking some time to rest, Zara updated fans on Thursday as she revealed there is now some small evidence of healing.
Hoping to recover in the most natural way possible, the star wants to avoid surgery and is instead going to opt for crutches and a boot to take the pressure off her foot instead.
She explained: ‘This evening I’m heading to the hospital because while I was away I got some news from my Dr about my tibia fracture.

‘The good news is that there is some small evidence of healing! Yay!
‘However he said he can see that the bone surrounding the fracture is under a lot of tension/pressure… whatever that means?
‘Surgery is still an option but I’ve opted for the most natural route which is to try and help it heal on its own… which means for the next few months I’m going to be on crutches and in a boot, which I’m being fitted for today.
‘I’ve had to pull out of a few work things over the next few weeks because I know I need to prioritise my leg healing, but I’m hoping this is the beginning of the end now!’
Earlier this month Zara asked her fans for help as she revealed the stress fracture wasn’t healing and had been advised she might need further surgery.
The star explained she was struggling to find information about her condition online as she asked fans if they knew what the impact of the operation would be.
She wrote: ‘So I have quite a significant stress fracture in my tibia that isn’t healing. It stretches pretty much the entire width of my bone.
‘The professor who operated on me back in December has advised that I am likely to need further surgery where they put metal screws and plates above and below the fractured area to fuse it together.’

‘I’m researching online as much as I can about the surgery, but I really can’t find much online about it especially in the tibia and also related to a stress fracture.
‘How long were you off your feet for? How bad was it? I have lots of questions!’ she added.
The star explained that if she doesn’t have surgery and it worsens, she will need surgery in the next three to six months, but revealed she would be limiting her movement.
Zara told her followers that she was about to have a CT scan to check for ‘calcium deposits’, which would indicate healing.
The star also had a mystery surgery on her back in December as she shared a snap from her hospital bed.
Zara, who did not reveal what the surgery was for, donned a festive pink pyjama set and had a cannula in her arm as she took the selfie.
Alongside the picture, Zara penned: ‘Had a little procedure done yesterday! Now ready for a super chilled Xmas.’
Zara had her boyfriend Sam Thompson by her side while recovering, as he shared a snap with her and wrote: ‘My tiny goose recovering after a little op.’
