Harry revealed during an appearance on Hits Radio that producers came up with creative ways to fill the episodes, while lining their own pockets.
He said: ‘You could always spot a fake and we were quite hard on them. They only really got in if we were short…
‘Actually when I started doing the show, and this is true, the producer was getting married and needed the money for the wedding so was submitting clips under different names.
‘She somehow managed to get hold of a hedgehog and make it fall off the draining board onto the sink, submitted that and got £250. It’s a national scandal!’ MailOnline has approached ITV for comment.
The popular show was originally presented by Jeremy Beadle between 1990 and 1998, before he was replaced by Lisa Riley until 2003.
Jonathan Wilkes held the fort for one series between 2003 and 2004, before bosses brought in Harry who hosted the show up until its axe.
ITV called time on You’ve Been Framed as viewers turned to social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok for funny clips.

Up to 15 million people tuned in during its heyday but audience numbers have dropped with the last episode airing in August 2022.
A TV insider told The Sun: ‘The fact that You’ve Been Framed has been shelved is a sad sign of the times.
‘It’s a different world to Jeremy Beadle’s heyday. Why would viewers tune into a show featuring funny videos when they could see the same sort of thing on the internet?
‘Silly clips are hugely popular on social media and the right video can go viral. There’s a thrill in achieving that — even though you don’t earn the £250 fee which You’ve Been Framed paid for contributions.’
Harry voiced 341 of the 701 which have aired over the last 33 years.
People were previously asked to send in their videos for a fee but the request was removed from recent Sunday reruns.
ITV also removed the You’ve Been Framed section from their website which also invited people to contribute clips.
While the programme was not expensive to make, it took time for producers to vet the videos, with deliberate violence or injury not allowed and set-up scenarios disregarded.
On some of the surprising content that was sent in, Harry previously said: ‘I don’t get to see the long list but I know there are a lot of fakes — and a lot of sex videos.’

You’ve Been Framed was based on Japanese show Fun TV With Kato-chan and Ken-chan which first aired in 1986.
America’s Funniest Home Videos followed in 1989 before a number of other versions were made around the world when home video was at its peak using camcorders rather than digital devices.
Harry Hill previously revealed that old episodes of You’ve Been Framed required thorough refinement as they featured jokes about dead and disgraced celebrities.
He told the Mirror: ‘It happens increasingly that the person I’m referencing has died. And they had to cut out a whole lot of references after all those people were arrested as part of Operation Yewtree.’
ITV bosses were forced to apololgise in 2015 after it broadcast an old episode of You’ve Been Framed containing a joke about Cilla Black hitting her head in her ‘last show’ on television.
The star died of a stroke at the age of 72 after falling and banging her head at her Marbella home in August that year while she was sunbathing on her private terrace.
Furious fans were left distraught and complained to ITV calling them ‘crass’, ‘sick’ and ‘insensitive’ for allowing the joke to be broadcast.
