X Factor’s Sam Bailey Responds to Fat-Shaming Troll, Urges Fans to ‘Be Kind’

X Factor star Sam Bailey has hit back at a nasty troll who has fat-shamed her on Instagram on Tuesday as she reminded fans to ‘be kind’.

The singer, 48, found fame after winning the hit ITV talent show in 2013 and has gone on to have a career on stage and released two successful albums.

However, Sam has revealed the sad price of fame as she shared the hateful messages she has received from trolls, with one writing: ‘What has happened to Sam? She’s let herself go.’

The star vented in a lengthy video, which lasted over 20 minutes, and also replied to the troll on her recent post of herself rehearsing in a tracksuit.

She fumed: ‘Anyway, so I posted a video two days ago of me sat down in a chair with a microphone, belting out a little bit of Whitney, my favourite song to sing, one of them anyway.

‘And someone posted something like I’d let myself go. Firstly, I’d had a shower about 20 minutes before that, I had no makeup on.

‘And yes, I was wearing a tracksuit, which is what I feel most comfortable in. Especially when you’re doing rehearsals and stuff like that.’

Sam continued: ‘And I was like, ‘Why would you say that? Like, why? Why?’

‘And it really like, it didn’t upset me because I mean, I know I’m getting old. I’m 48.

‘And, and yeah, I’ve got lots of lines and bags under my eyes, because I work f***ing hard. Excuse my French.

‘But what annoys me the most is that there’s people out there that just need building up and it’s people like that, that put people down.’

Replying to the troll in the comments, she added: ‘Why comment negatively? These are the sorts of comments that could tip someone over the edge when they are at their lowest!

‘I personally don’t give a s*** what people think about me but have a word with ya self! Stop trying to be funny when this sort of comment could really affect someone! Give ya head a wobble and think before you type! #bekind’.

The troll continued to spread hate to Sam writing about her looks and that they were ‘shocked’ to see her ‘looking different’.

She won the show beating runner-up Nicholas McDonald and becoming the show’s first winner to bag a Christmas No1 for three years.

The star recently revealed the baffling real reason she took part on The X Factor as she appeared on Loose Women to also talk about her new role in Now That’s What I Call A Musical alongside Nina Wadia.

The chat with Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, Linda Robson and Myleene Klass turned to her time on The X Factor, where the panel were keen to know why she actually took part in it.

Sam confessed: ‘I went onto the X Factor to get a new kitchen.’

Coleen asked: ‘Did you get it?’

Sam replied: ‘Now I want to change it! I’m bored of it. I wanted a new kitchen… that’s the reason I went on The X Factor.

‘I’m still on the same house that I lived in before, it’s just doubled in size.

‘When people come around and they say “can I use your loo?”… I say “which one, I have two!”‘

Coleen also wanted to know if she had learned anything from her time on the programme.

Sam said: ‘Yeah I just learned to not be anything else but yourself. I think that’s why I am still working. It’s because I’ve not changed as me.

‘I’m still grateful for everything I do.’

Sam lives in Leicester with husband Craig, whom she married in Las Vegas in 2003, and their three children Tommy, Brooke, and Miley.

She quit her job as a prison guard at HMP Gartree soon after winning The X Factor, going on to star in musicals Chicago and Fat Friends.

The star’s debut album, The Power Of Love, also shot to No1 and she supported Beyonce on a date of her UK tour in 2014.
