Two X Factor stars announced their engagement on Tuesday eight years after they first met on the series.
Jamaal Shurland, from R&B group Rak-Su, asked his partner Shereen Cutkelvin to marry him over the weekend in Scotland during a ‘surprise’ proposal.
Shereen is part of family super-group The Cutkelvins alongside her siblings Kyle, and Jay, with the trio making it to the semi-final on the fourteenth series in 2017.
Jamaal’s band Rak-Su soared to victory in the finale as they were headed against Grace Davies yet the public opted to take the group to the top.
Sharing the news to Instagram, Shereen shared a series of loved-up photos and flashed her engagement ring.
The singer wrote: ‘The proposal. It all happened in my childhood town, weather was freezing (hence the red noses) with an amazing view of the moon.’

She added: ‘It was completely unexpected (hence the no manicure lol).’
Rak-Su, who have won legions of fans following their stint on the show, previously revealed their name derives from the phrase Tracks vs Suits meaning Music & fun vs Adult Life.
Jamaal stars in the band alongside Ashley Fongho and Myles Stephenson, in 2020 Mustafa Rahimtulla decided to take a break from music.
While competing on The X Factor, the group explained the ethos of the group is to: ‘Just keep making more music, and spread more vibes’.
Rak-Su’s unique sound – which was lauded as like nothing X Factor had heard before – has been described as electric and spanning genres such as grime,RnB, hip-hop and spoken word.
After their win they dominated the iTunes Top 10, with a whopping five separate songs in the chart including a new version of Dimelo featuring Wyclef Jean and Naughty Boy at the top of the charts.
They also sat at number three with Dimelo, number four with their audition song I’m Feeling You, followed by Mona Lisa in five and Mamacita in six.
Rak-Su most recently collaborated with andrë and TWNTY4 on the song Patience as well as working with Late Checkout on Eastside.

In July, Shereen replaced Edith Bowman on BBC Scotland’s coverage of Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival.
She also has a number of presenting credits to her name, including co-hosting a show on BBC Radio Scotland and presenting Radio 1’s Early Breakfast as well as CBBC’s music magazine show Love, Love, Love.
Sheeran said: ‘I’m so excited to be presenting BBC Scotland’s TRNSMT coverage this year. We’re gearing up for a cracking few days of live music.’
BBC Scotland commissioning executive Heather Kane-Darling added that Sheeran ‘will bring her enthusiasm and love of music to our TRNSMT coverage’ and thanked Ms Bowman ‘for the brilliant job she has done’.
