The Devil Wears Prada fans were treated to an surprise reunion during Sunday's Oscars, as and took to the stage together ahead of the long-awaited sequel in May.

The legendary Vogue editor, 76, was thought to be the inspiration for 's icy Miranda Pristley in the 2008 film, so it was a welcome treat for fans to see her take to the stage with the film's star Anna Hathaway.

Strutting onto the stage to present Best Costume Design, Anna delivered a nod to her on-screen alter-ego by calling Anne 'Emily,' the character of Miranda's long-suffering assistant played by in the film.

While the pair's exchange was brief, fans praised the reunion as being the funniest moment of the night, with some praising Anna for having better comedic skills than the show's host Conan O'Brien. 

After the pair made their entrance to the hit Vogue, Anne turned to Anna to ask: 'Would you like to read out the nominees?' 

Putting on her famous sunglasses, Anna quipped: 'Thank you Emily.'

Playing the part of her character's awkward alter-ego, Anne meekly asked Anna: 'What do you think of my dress tonight?'

Anne icily turned to the camera and began reading the nominations, leaving the audience in hysterics.

Fans took to social media to laud Anna's hilarious appearance, as they called her appearance with Anne 'the most powerful 14 seconds in fashion history'

Earlier in the ceremony, Amy Madigan took home Best Supporting Actress for her work in Zach Creggar supernatural mystery horror film Weapons.

The second award of the night was groundbreaking as KPop Demon Hunters earned Best Animated Feature Film.

The Netflix film triumphed over Arco, Elio, Little Amelie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2.

Meanwhile, The Girl Who Cried Pearls earned Best Animated Short Film.

Cassandra Kulukundis earned the first ever Best Casting Academy Award for her work in One Battle After Another. 

Best Live-Action Short Film was decided by a rare tie as The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva were both honored. 

Gullermo del Toro's Frankenstein was also a big winner as the Netflix film earned two.

The dramatic reimaging earned both Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Kate Hawley accepted the costume award while Jordan Samuel, Mike Hill, and Cliona Furey took home the one for makeup and hair.

The horror flick is one of the ten films up for Best Picture alongside Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value and Train Dreams.

Sinners star Michael B. Jordan faces a stacked Best Actor category, competing against fellow nominees (Marty Supreme), Leonardo (One Battle After Another),  (Blue Moon), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent).

Set in 1930s , Sinners follows twin brothers (both played by Jordan) who return to their hometown only to face a supernatural evil. 

The Best Actor race is currently a dead heat. While Chalamet dominated the early season with wins at the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards, the momentum shifted after Jordan won at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards.
