Will.i.am has claimed he beat Simon Cowl in the chase for the UK’s next biggest boyband as he took a swipe at the producer during an early screening of The Voice.
Earlier this year, Simon Cowell revealed he was on the hunt for the next One Direction and scoured the country for a new boy band.
The music mogul, 64, put together One Direction’s Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik on The X Factor in 2010, who went on to take the pop world by storm.
And now Will.i.am has claimed he has beat him to the chase this year as his UK singing competition, The Voice, returns for its 13th season.
He told MailOnline the key difference between himself and the Britain’s Got Talent judge and why he potentially has more of a chance at success than when it comes to finding the next big boyband.

When asked if he had found the UK’s next biggest boyband, Will.i.am appeared confident and confirmed to MailOnline that he has. With a grin plastered on his face, he said: ‘Yes. And the difference between me and Simon is that I can write and produce it.
‘He is looking for it, where as I can get in the kitchen and cook it up.’
In a clip filmed by MailOnline during an early screening of The Voice, Will.i.am appeared very confident about his choices in singers as he revealed that he remembers ‘winning’ this years show.
When asked what we can expect from him in the show, the Where Is The Love singer said: ‘What you can expect from me is to win this year.
‘There are things that I remember, things that I don’t remember, but I remember winning.
When MailOnline asked his fellow judge, Sir Tom Jones if they had found the next Taylor Swift, Tom said: ‘No. Who could beat Taylor Swift? Nobody’s like her, she’s sensational.’
Will.i.am’s confidence comes just weeks after Simon spent weeks travelling the county in search of new talent.

But despite heavy advertising, the music mogul had to give up on his search because he couldn’t drum up enough prospective auditionees.
Simon had plans for the search to appear in a Netflix documentary called The Midas Touch -but was reportedly told to give up and come to the terms that the ‘era of the chart-topping boyband is over’.
The Midas Touch was initially pitched with the idea of following his search for future stars, but it will now instead focus on Simon as his pop dream falls apart.
An insider on The Midas Touch told the Daily Mail: ‘Simon has been told the original idea behind the series needs to change.
Rather than focusing on the creation of a boyband capable of going on to massive success, the focus is now much more on him.
‘His frustration is at the auditions where many of the singers turning up are cast-offs from bands that didn’t make it.
‘But perhaps more crucially, Simon has been told to come to terms with the fact that maybe the era of the chart-topping boyband is over. It is devastating for him.’
This year the long-running judge and Sir Tom are joined by McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones and the nineties pop icon, LeAnne Rimes after Ollie Murs was axed from the show last year.
The Voice UK is a popular British television music competition that first premiered on March, 24, 2012.
The show is based on the original The Voice of Holland and is part of a global franchise known simply as The Voice.
The format was created by Dutch television producer John de Mol and has since been adapted in numerous countries worldwide.
It is a talent show with a unique twist as the initial rounds are known as the Blind Auditions.
They are conducted with the judges facing away from the contestants. This means that the judges (also known as coaches) make decisions based solely on the contestant’s voice, without being influenced by their appearance.
If a coach likes what they hear, they press a button to turn their chair around, signaling their desire to mentor that contestant.
If more than one coach turns their chair, the contestant gets to choose which coach they want to work with.
It comes as judge of six years, Olly Murs, was unexpectedly axed from the show last year.
The Dear Darling singer, 40, said his team were told by ITV bosses the. show was ‘looking at new people’ for the coaching role before he was kicked off the show.

Olly expressed his disappointment with ITV and said: ‘I got the call to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t expect that.
‘They’ll find someone great, I’m sure. But am I going to miss it? Yeah. Did I want to leave? No. Will I still watch the show? Of course, but it’ll be sore thinking that could have been me.’
Meanwhile, Anne-Marie was also dropped from the series before the upcoming 2024 show.
The Voice UK airs Saturday, August, 31, 8pm on ITV1 & ITVX.
