Why Timothee Chalamet DITCHED Kylie Jenner at Coachella: Insiders spill on ‘awkward and weird’ behind the scenes drama

Draped around his neck before snatching a passionate snog, Kylie Jenner clung to Timothee Chalamet as they partied with friends at Coachella music festival this weekend.

The A-list couple fawned over one another like puppy-eyed teens, with the reality star entertaining the actor as she danced in a tiny crop top – and even at one point flashed her bra.

But such confident displays were not forthcoming when Jenner, 27, reunited with her ex and father of her two children Travis Scott, 33, ahead of his headline set on Saturday night in Palm Desert, California.

In fact, sources now tell the Daily Mail that Chalamet, 29, was so worried about that a run-in with Scott would be ‘awkward and weird’ that he swerved joining Jenner when she took her seven-year-old daughter Stormi to see the rapper backstage.

‘Travis didn’t see Timothee at all, but [Travis] would not have cared if he did,’ our insider revealed. ‘He would never avoid him. In fact, it was the other way around. Kylie took the kids, [her sister] Kendall, and bodyguards to Travis’s backstage area so he could see Stormi. But Timothee didn’t go. He wouldn’t over concerns it would be awkward and weird.’

Chalamet’s concerns are perhaps understandable given Scott’s apparent initial disdain for the actor’s relationship with Jenner.

Indeed, Scott memorably appeared to diss Chalamet in his track ‘Meltdown’ back in July 2023, just six months after Jenner had first hit it off with the actor during Paris Fashion Week.

In a nod to Chalamet’s recent film Wonka, in which he played the eccentric chocolatier, Scott raps: ‘Chocolate AP and chocolate the Vs, got the Willy Wonka factory / Burn a athlete like it’s calories, find another flame hot as me.’

A source previously told the Daily Mail that Scott thought the romance was a ‘joke.’

Again, such a reaction would hardly be surprising given the Oscar-nominee hooked up with Jenner mere weeks after it was revealed her on-off relationship with Scott had finally ended for good.

Jenner and Scott started dating in 2017 after they met, funnily enough, at Coachella – when she was 19 and he was 26.

A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Stormi, before splitting in 2019 and once again reuniting in May 2021.

Their son Aire, now three – whose original name was Wolfe before his parents had it legally changed – was born in February 2022, 10 months after that reunion.

But even new parenthood couldn’t keep them together – and they split for good that December, amid rumors that Scott had been unfaithful, though he has denied any infidelity.

Jenner and Scott are said to have remained ‘amicable’ for the sake of their children and have a ‘good co-parenting relationship’, with the rapper spending more time with his kids ‘than anyone knows.’

Proving those credentials as a doting father, Scott gave Stormi a special shoutout during his headline set at the weekend.

‘Stormi, let’s rock,’ he shouted, while performing his track ‘Mamacita’.

‘Travis spends a lot of time with his kids,’ said another source. ‘He brings them to shows and to games and is with them more than anyone knows. They are obsessed with their daddy and Travis doesn’t see Timothee as a threat whatsoever.’

The source added that it is unlikely Stormi and Aire will ever see Chalamet as a father figure.

‘Stormi is a huge daddy’s girl, so Timothee will most likely always be nothing more than “mom’s boyfriend” even if she marries him,’ the source said. ‘As much as Kylie wants them to be open to looking at Timothee as a father figure, it is unlikely that this will ever happen. The kids like Timothee – but they will never look at him as “dad”.’ 

Jenner reportedly first introduced Chalamet to her children as ‘one of Mommy’s friends’ in a group setting with other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. 

Stormi and Aire now regularly hang out with the actor and even spent an early Christmas with him and Jenner last year, with Chalamet buying them both gifts.

It is understood that Chalamet has yet to meet Scott.
