Hugh Jackman, 56, and Ryan Reynolds, 48, have been best friends for nearly two decades after meeting on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2007… but just because they’re known for their tight-knit attachment doesn’t mean their significant others share their bond.
An insider has exclusively told Daily Mail the truth about why Jackman’s girlfriend Sutton Foster and the Canadian actor’s wife Blake Lively ‘don’t have a close friendship,’ despite their partners always spending time together.
While the couples occasionally venture out as a foursome and double date, ‘when it comes to Blake’s one-on-one with Sutton, they’ve never had a deep and meaningful friendship’ and it doesn’t look like they’ll be starting one anytime soon, according to the source.
The women get along, but they don’t have a real relationship where they confide in each other or spend time with each other without their famous significant others present because ‘there’s no real affinity,’ the source said.
Both women are hard-working actresses who have been active in Hollywood for many years, but that’s where the similarities end.
Foster, 50, is known for tackling much more mature Broadway roles, while Lively, 38, shot to fame after starring in the beloved adaptation of the Young Adult novel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and then as wild child socialite Serena van der Woodsen on the soapy CW show Gossip Girl.

In September 2023, Jackman and Furness announced they were separating following almost three decades of marriage. The Music Man co-stars then confirmed they were an item in January after leaving a Los Angeles restaurant hand-in-hand.
When Lively was caught up in It Ends With Us legal drama and her public fall-out with her former best friend Taylor Swift, she still hit red carpets and gathered up her celebrity friends for support. In comparison, Foster leads a much quieter life in New York City. This fall, she’s embarking on a tour, where she hits smaller cities like Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Germantown, Tennessee, proving the Georgia-born performer is a small-town girl at heart.
A separate source told Daily Mail that Lively and Foster have a relationship that’s quite similar to Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes, as ‘they are both bonded by their men but also have their differences.’
Swift and Mahomes are famously tied to members of the Kansas City Chiefs, so while they might not have much in common, they’ll be sitting VIP at games for the next year at least.
Similarly, Foster and Lively will be supporting their beaus as they’re slated to co-star in the upcoming movie Boy Band, a comedy written by and starring Reynolds, which will feature the men as former boy band members reuniting in middle age.
However, Swift and Mahomes have managed to form a friendship despite their major differences, including having differing political beliefs.
